Josh Jackson is in the same mold as Iguadala, Butler and even Paul George.... all have average to not-so-great wingspan/lengths, Iggy having the best measurements for his height.

Iguadala, 6'5 without shoes, 6'11 wingspan
Butler, 6'6 without shoes, 6'8 wingspan
George, 6'7 without shoes, 6'10 wingspan
*Jackson, 6'6 without shoes, 6'10 wingspan
I'm hoping he is more in the Shawn Marion mold. Marion prime was a head above these players and if JJ was in even close I'd be giddy.

Shawn Marion was an elite finisher, slasher, rebounder and one of the most versatile defenders in his prime, but he isnt the play maker, shot creator or ball handler as Butler, George or Iguadala, especially the first two. But Marion is the perfect 3rd option to a good team that has a ball handler and creator already.

All I think about when I hear Shawn Marion is his shooting form....

Whoa. Hold up.

I love Marion and think he was ridiculously underrated. Nash and Marion were our stars in SSOL. Amare only played offense. The fact that we played just as well with Nash/Marion in the season when Amare was out, proves how overrated Amare was and how good Marion was.

Marion better then Iggy? Yes.
Marion better then Butler? I think about even.
Mation better then PG13? Come on dude....no way. And I'm a Marion fan.

If Josh Jackson becomes as good as Iggy I'll be slightly disappointed.
If JJ becomes as good as Marion or Butler, I'll be ecstatic.
If JJ becomes as good as PG13, I'll snort a line of pre-workout powder, shave my head, and run down Scottsdale road NEKKED because we'll probably be NBA champions at some point (assuming we keep Booker)

Well to be fair when Amare went out Diaw stepped in and did a great job, played well within the offense, and was smart defensively. Plus we were able to play KT more in the middle until he got hurt, and he really anchored our defense. With that anchor in place, Nash didn't have to slack off his man to help Amare. Overall, we were solid defensively with Bell, Marion, Diaw, and KT. Nash wasn't strong defensively, but with knowledge of the rest of his team's ability defensively, Nash was able to stick to his man and beat them to their point taking multiple charges.

Marion had such a great second jump, and the speed at which he got to the ball was amazing. I'm not sure if we will see that again.

I don't get this at all. To me, Paul George is one of the more overrated players of this generation. He's a good player, I'm not saying he isn't. He is probably the toughest matchup for Lebron and that has built his reputation but IMO Butler is a much better all around player. If you're preparing to face Lebron's team, George is a must get, but for the rest of the league, I'll take Butler.

They have pretty similar numbers. I prefer George though. He is a much better 3 pt shooter. Butler is a little better passer but not really better in any other area.

Hmm, I wouldn't have thought that to be the case. Watching them play, Butler seems to be much more of an impact player. And Paul looks like a shell of the player he was 4 years ago, on both ends of the court. He closed the season well but I thought Butler outplayed him by a considerable margin even still.

I looked at them the other day, and really looked at them today on b-ref. They are almost identical except for what I mentioned. Butler actually has a higher BPM and VORP based on offense on b-ref but it's not understandable to me why...George shoots better in every category. The only advantage Butler has is assists. I looked at last year and George was a little better.

George is younger too.

I always thought George was a crazy long player lol
Kinda weird to see he actually has a 6'11 wingspan

That's a huge difference in Butler's favor in all the so-called advanced" stats on b-ref, I wonder what's driving that?

I don't know. I studied it for awhile and it has to be assists...it's mostly on the offensive side if you look at OBPM...but you'd figure George's better shooting helps. Actually just looking closer, down in the advanced section their TS% is nearly identical, which is odd, because if you look at overall fg%, 2pfg%, 3pfg% and ft%, George beats him in every category...and then at the top if you look at eFG%, George is clearly ahead.

I think I figured it out....Butler simply gets to the line more (8.9 attempts per game to George's 5), and TS% favors that, because you hit a lot higher % on free throws. eFG% basically adjusts that a bit because people argue TS% favors getting to the line too much. So all of those advanced measures b-ref uses probably uses TS% as part of their measure.

Manute Bol's son was just measured with a 9'7" standing reach...

DirtyDez wrote:
Widely regarded as one of the top prospects in the high school class of 2019, Bol Bol measured a jaw-dropping 7'3 in shoes, with a 7'8 wingspan, to go along with a 220-pound frame he's added over 15 pounds to since this time last year, and 40 pounds since the summer of 2016. One of the younger players in this group, not turning 18 until November, Bol didn't make the cut for the final U19 roster, as his maturity and ability to maintain a consistently high intensity level aren't yet where they need to be to compete against players nearly two years older than him. Bol has plenty of room to improve his frame and polish his game, but his sheer size and elite 9'7 standing reach give him game-changing potential if his mentality improves.
