Lol I am wondering where this Boston writer is "hearing" this from? I understand the argument of Boston's assets being more appealing than no state income tax/warm weather, but not everybody down here is a party type. Just look at Chris Bosh and Ray Allen when they were playing here. Or, even Justise Winslow, Goran Dragic, and Shane **** Battier. Such party animals lol. I wonder if the old money living in Coral Gables and Pinecrest are also party types that only find Miami attractive because of the nightlife? Or those families who live in 4,000 sq ft McMansions in the Kendall/Killian area?

Dude is getting absolutely ROASTED in his mentions.

According to this idiot writer , everyone in Miami including my 95 year old grandmother goes out late at night and parties. No wonder my grandmother always wakes up late

It would be good if he just stayed in Utah. I really want to bring back JJ and Dion. Maybe my loyalty is getting the best of me but that's what i want.

So you're pretty much saying that you rather Dion/JJ over JJ/Hayward or Dion/Hayward?

Can we just stretch every contract on the team over the next several years and just sign everybody?

Perfect world I want all three. If Hayward really wants to come here I think it's still an outside shot it can happen. Lots of creativity will have to be involved. Also have to keep in mind that it's not just Dion and JJ. We'll have money left over to shore up other holes.

Not sure if this makes sense but what if Hayward signs takes a tiny bit less only to equal the taxes that would be taken away by playing in another state. Dion and JJ sign 1 year contracts where we can get their birds right. Then we re-sign them to higher contracts the following season.

Got it. I'm with you too. I would also love to keep all 3. I saw the idea floating around earlier of Riley wanting both Hayward and Griffin. I just don't see how those 2 fit on the court with Dragic and Whiteside offensively though.

We do this every off-season, people. We're most likely not getting discounts to sign anyone. Players see the tax savings as more money in their pocket. That's their advantage for the 41 home games they play here versus California, New York, or other states. Why would they give that up to sign here?

Players have to get paid a fair market price. That means Blake or Hayward are going to be max salaries. You shouldn't expect to pay them less.

A 4/60 salary for Dion would look like this:

$13,953,488
$14,651,162
$15,348,836
$16,046,514

That's very fair.

Here is the 25% Max: (non-bird) (Otto Porter, Nerlens Noel)

$24,750,000
$25,987,500
$27,225,000
$28,462,500

Here is the 30% Max: (non-bird) (Blake Griffin, Steph Curry, Gordon Hayward)

$29,700,000
$31,185,000
$32,670,000
$34,155,000

Here is the 35% Max: (non-bird) (Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Kyle Lowry, Paul Millsap)

$34,650,000
$36,382,500
$38,115,000
$39,847,500

Bird values for resigning with their teams allow 5 (or 6) year contracts at higher raises.

One reason in my opinion that we did so well during the second half of last season was our bench depth. Paying a max like these to a player like Hayward will not only drain our young resources (who must be purged for minimum contracts) but also it will destroy our depth. We need to build slowly and improve the assets we have, resign them, consolidate, and then put together a contender. Short circuit it and the whole project crumbles.

Riley should know after meeting Hayward if he's coming or not. I wonder how Boston is going to handle Free agency seems like Thomas wants Blake more than Hayward. Can't get them both.

If he knows we aren't getting Hayward, I'd trade for PG and **** up Boston's opportunity. Get rid of some contracts like McRoberts and TJ add a young player like Richardson or Winslow to seal the deal. Then we have PG, sign Dion and JJ with the cleared cap space and possibly another player. Point is just screw Boston over. We'll also have CAP space in 2018 if PG leaves.

Boston can offer more than Heat. I just cant see PG to Miami unless he forces his way to Miami and we offer Winslow. Only way he would want to play here is if we sign another top free agent. Free agency is all about gaining momentum on your side. You sign someone big, others are going to want to come here.

It's no longer his choice. **** he could be playing on the Sac Kings by tomorrow. Not really, but point is he has no choice. Sure he can leave next season. But in the end as long as Boston doesn't get him this season, I'm fine with losing Winslow for PG. We still don't know if Winslow will be any good. At best he is no PG and if we have to risk him to sign PG to hope he signs with us for more than one year so be it. And yes I am little.

Only issue is paying the young talent when their contracts are up. If they're not game changers but solid players then you'll never get over the hump. You need that one difference maker.

Great idea! I mean worst case scenario Winslow develops his jumper with the team he's traded to, Dion and JJ play back to their averages, PG leaves in the summer, we strike out in FA the following summer, and we lose our draft pick. We also lose TJ. Yeah, how bad can it be? :(
