This is 100% the perception around the league doing trade transactions with DA, and it requires an overpay on our part to receive stars - '08 Big 3, '13 BKN heist, '15 IT for free, those deals aren't happening anymore. Nobody in this thread can even begin to have a civil discussion unless some basic facts are acknowledged on the thin ice every GM is not to get embarrassed.

A deal can be made between the Celtics and the Pacers. Take out the Nets Pick, and replace it with the Lakers pick, and it is a done deal.

A league source said today that the Celtics are waiting to hear back from Pritchard, who as of draft night was asking for next year’s Nets and Lakers first round picks, which are both under Celtics control. Pritchard also wants starting-caliber players included in the deal.

Uhh from last topic:

2. Too many assets = teams wanting an unreasonable haul from Danny.

4. If the C's only big assets (BKN 18, LAL/SAC 18) aren't offered, Pritchard will settle for another contender willing to part with multiple 1sts in 2019, 2010, etc. and beyond, including a young prospect.

I've heard #2 a number of times now and I still don't get it. The value of PG doesn't change based on the assets a certain team has. Just because I have more money walking into the grocery store doesn't mean I'm going to pay more. What it does mean is that if another suitor offers more than what I am currently offering I probably have the ability to up my offer. But teams aren't going to take a lesser offer just because the Cs have more assets. Thats absurd.

Imagine grocery store with one piece of bread. 5 people come in and offer similar amount of money. You are the one who has more money to offer than others and grocer knows that. Now it all depends how much do you want that piece of bread. Maybe you don't want that piece of bread that much, then it's cool and you just walk away. If you do then grocer can try to squeeze out from you as much as he can or he just gives that piece of bread to one of the other 4.

What grocery store are you going to where it works this way? The price is usually the price; I couldn't imagine this **** being pulled at a Farmer's market. I'd imagine a more apt scenario is that I'm a store negotiating with a supplier, and maybe the supplier knows I can pay more and thus pushing a higher price. But I'm not fighting 4 people for a loaf of bread just for the guy to say "oh you have more money? Nah you gotta pay more than they do fam".

No, it does not. Thats absurd and makes zero sense. As I stated in the other thread. You might ask for more and TAKE less, but you'll never TAKE less when MORE is being offered. never ever ever. If the Cs offer is better it will be accepted. These are professionals not teenage girls, they make decisions based on value not out of jealousy.
