Re: Welcome Jonah Bolden
Bolden was a huge steal imo. He reminds a bit of Marion. It's too bad BC traded Evans that was another one imo and would have been a great back up that could also help distribute when Ben isn't on court.

While I agree, Isn't TJ McConnell perfectly capable of doing what you described?

Not to mention that depending on how BB staggers his rotations I think Fultz may end up being the main ball handler when Simmons is on the bench. I like TJ but he needs to be surrounded by 4 shooters or develop some semblance of an outside shot ASAP or else I could see him very quickly being lucky to get more than 10 mins of game time a night.

While he does not necessarily space the floor, he still manages to find a way to create looks for himself and others. In a reserve role, your not building around him, you simply need him to defend, manage the game and make the right play.....he has shown the ability to do that at an NBA level.
He shoots 46-47% from the field. He isn't a particularly good shooter (although I think he can develop the 3 ball at an average clip) but he also knows his limitations and doesn't go out and try and do anything outside of it. He defends well, gets steals, manages the game, hits his FT's, takes smart shots and has also made some clutch shots. I have no problem with McConnell and think he's a fine reserve PG for us.

I am fine with him too... for now. I would be staggered if he is still on the squad > 2 years from now though.
If you get a guy in free agency like a Patty Mills then is there really a need for McConnell?

Bolden just posted this 4 hours ago. Could have been told that the Long trade means he has a spot on the roster? or just coincidence.

Doubt it, he's probably just happy he got drafted.

Re: Welcome Jonah Bolden
Can anybody tell me what is his current contract situation? I read somewhere that his 2 yr contract has a NBA out clause. Is the out clause applicable this year?

Most likely. Bolden has been pretty adamant though for weeks that he wants to play in the NBA this season. Unlike the other Eurostashes he isn't European so has no burning desire to live or play there any longer than he has to.

I don't know all the fine details, but he has said a few times that the contract he has in Europe has an out clause where he can come and play this year in the NBA if drafted. It's more whether or not we have a spot for him in the 15.
At the very least I'd like to see him playing Summer League. That alone may make the team decide whether or not he can contribute this year or not.

Re: Welcome Jonah Bolden
so is bolden 100% decided on being stashed already based on BC's comments?
does trading long change that to 99%?
would trading okafor change it to like 90%?
i mean he already has one year ncaa experience and one year overseas.. what else do they want?

McConnell is a fantastic 3rd PG. However, he will move on to a place where he will get an expanded role when his contract is up. He should be a good backup PG in the league for a long time. Kid's smart and plays to his strengths.

I think Bolden's coming over, there's clearly a spot on the roster for him now, even if they keep Hendo.

not that this has any merit but from watching him and AP/lessort's gram stories... bolden was in camden yesterday? and AP was already out of america or on vacation or something.
gotta be a reason they have bolden hanging around? unless he's just bored or something lol

Re: Welcome Jonah Bolden
He's participating in Summer League mini-camp, so seems like he may participate in SL.

Participating in mini-camp doesn't mean he'll necessarily be in Summer League, just like playing in Summer League doesn't necessarily mean he will be on the roster. Frankly, I would think that even if that 15th roster spot is open, they're better off leaving it open for trades, waivers, etc. during the season. Bolden says he has an out-clause - but we have no idea what his buyout is, etc. BC clearly drafted all of these guys specifically to stash them for at least year, I don't see why that would change, unless he plays in Summer League and completely dominates, forcing their hand.

Stop Making Sense was a great concert movie. There were nice appearances from members of Parliament-Funkadelic. It was Jonathan Demme at his best.
