Re: Trade & Free Agency Ideas & Discussion 2
I'm slightly TRIGGERED by the poll options, as if there's some underlying patronization towards those that see a (potential) superstar available. it's not that binary...barring injury every team on the NBA will be treadmilling at best compared to the Warriors. Blake doesn't guarantee the playoffs (he has never been the true #1 option on a team) nor does it mean that he can't become part of a contender here in the distant future. PLENTY of young talent currently here, and more on the way. You cannot sign everyone, but then again who bats 100% on the draft lottery...I chose option C

completely forgot about the lost Griffin brother...the 15th man on the surprise Suns team...could it be, that the Suns penchant for 'my (lesser) brother's keeper' acquirement finally pays off?? thank you based Kerr & Griffin

Chicago is in a **** spot right now. Maybe we can send them Knight and next years Miami 1st for Rondo?
There's no way at all McD is going to give up a solid asset like that for the sole purpose of getting rid of BK.
We have zero need for the cap space at the moment.
If it helps get us below the cap and net Griffin, you do it. We already have our own pick next year, how is this team going to survive adding 2-3 19 year olds every season? Think of it like a trade, Knight/Miami 1st for Griffin.
Well you see, those 19 year olds turn into 23 year olds by the time they are due a new contract. Those 23 year olds will be far easier to build around without a 30 year old BG with 2 years left on his contract. Particularly given his athleticism has already declined sharply and he has a number of injury concerns.
4/$130M is just soooooooooo much money.
Suns plan should be (and probably is) to go bang when we need to re-sign Book in 2019 given that his cap hold is so low. No point spending all your money now when you can just wait 2 more years and decide who to bet on then (with likely enough cap space to max a FA next to Book)

de'aaron fox will be a hof'er, don't @ me

As suns fans we need to be rooting for holiday to leave NO. If that happens they are in a tough spot where they absolutely need backcourt help and with the cousins situation they have to be all in this year. They might be desperate enough to talk themselves into a knight reclamation project. Id start by trying to do knight for a little 1 year deal like pondexter, if they balk then try ajincas two year deal, and if all else fails take asiks bad contract. At least with asik it shaves a year off what you would owe knight. Hell NO might do that asik deal even if they keep holiday.

But the problem is that there are some quality name FA PG's available.
Theres also a 2nd tier of PG's available, who can be had at a fraction of Knights price.
If the Pelicans strike out on guys like (Holiday/Lowery/Hill/Teague) they can still sign some like (Rondo/Lawson/Collison/DWiLL/Mills) at a fraction of the price of Knight.

Re: Trade & Free Agency Ideas & Discussion 2
We need to stop saying we should dump players like Chandler and Dudley. Look the front office has built some credibility with players in the league by offering Chandler an out and Chandler said no he wanted to stay. We don't just start dumping players to make cap space. Remember ... the family atmosphere is important and we need to keep building it. We are still recovering from the Morri, Dragic, IT, Plumlee, and Green grumblings. Knight is the guy we need to move to make cap space. It can be done by giving up a draft pick or two (1st and 2nd rounder). No reason to upset the apple cart.

Oh yeah the reasonable thing for any team is to look for someone other than knight. I'm just hoping desperation sets in.
Of the list you mention i could see mills getting more than the 13 mil they will have in cap space if holiday leaves. Dwill and lawson are petty bad players so I'm not sure they are upgrades on knight. Collison is a decent option they could afford so no argument there. Rondo is under contract but probably super available so yeah thats an option i guess that might come down to how boggie feels about him.
Realistically its the asik deal that would have the best shot of happening. Hes useless dead weight for them and if they do that deal they could still have holiday or use that 13 mil cap space to add other players.

I think the vast majority want to sign him. I've mentioned I'm fine either way as I'm excited about the rebuild but would also be excited signing him. There are probably a few who don't want him at all, but not many.
I dont know about that, i know i have been talking about Blake for over a week and there were quite a few posters shooting down the idea.
Yep
Kerssed, Jredsaz and me have been talking up Blake for a while now. It is a no brainer for us. It is all up to him.
There still is room on the bandwagon. I expect all the naysayers will climb aboard on the first dunk Blake makes on a pass from JJ that breaks the backboard, they will be begging to get on.

Re: Trade & Free Agency Ideas & Discussion 2
I won't be on board the bandwagon because there's no doubt in my mind he could come in and we'd win 50 or so games, maybe grab a #4 seed. The problem for me is 2 or 3 years down the road when he's earning 3 times as much as Brandon Knight currently is and doing the same thing (sitting on the bench) due to injuries. You want to throw away all future flexibility so we can have a couple of good / decent seasons because we haven't been into the playoffs in 7 years you go right ahead. I'm still saying we should continue to build organically.
ALso, I'm a big Bender guy. You sign Blake and you may as well trade him. Forcing him to play 5 for the rest of his career isn't going to work. He's a stretch play-making 4.

Nothing out of the ordinary but I just want to reiterate how crazy it is that we're the only ones reported to be meeting with BG. Given, of course, his reps will meet with the LAC execs on Friday. Him actually wanting to visit us (per Gambo) is a tell-tale sign that we can seal it as early as Sat.
Hope he gets blown away by the city and our presentation. Third time's a charm!

Did you listen to the Lowe/Shelburne podcast? They talk about how offering the max to Jrue makes sense because they can and if he leaves they only have about $13 million to work with and talk about the players who can get that. They think Lowry may get around $30 million and Jrue $23 and even guys like George Hill getting more than what they could afford.

After thinking about the knight situation it would be great if the changed the rules on buy outs and made that salary like a trade exemption. It would be great if you could use that players salary in a trade after a buy out. If that rule was in place i would have no problem buying him out tomorrow.

I did listen and that got me thinking how NO might be the most realistic knight destination.
If I was a pels fan I might actually be down for a knight asik swap. As much as i hate watching knight play and want him gone he's not completely devoid of tallent and it wouldn't shock me if he played better wherever he ends up.
And from a suns perspective asik is at least a big body who can play if needed and gives you an option if len and or williams get deals they aren't comfortable with. It would also set them up to have huge cap space in 19 when asik, chandler, dudley, and bledsoe are all off the books. At that point phx could be a real attractive destination if the young dudes have progressed.

Yeah, if it's that type of swap they might do it, particularly if they can make the trade first and then still re-sign Holiday.

They'll try and send us Solomon Hill who has the same amount of years but a little less on his deal (about $2M per year less). He puts up similar numbers. Hill at .38/.35 and Knight at .40/.33.
