There is no bigger fan and admirer of Deng around here than me. And I would love for him to retire a Bull. But he has 2 or possibly 3 guaranteed years on his deal I think. That's just too many for his current level of play.
I wouldn't have minded Rondo staying for another year, but waiving him (barring a logical trade arising which is unlikely) is the right move.
If he was attached to Ingram or some pick I thought would be top 10 I'd take Deng back. The bonus would be I would be happy to have a player I like back on the team. I was always a passenger on the Luol fan club train you engineered.
I'd take Deng if we got the Lakers' unprotected 2020 first rounder back.
I expect the Lakers to be good by then, so we're not talking about a great pick, but we're asset starved, and I don't think we'll be free agency players for the next 2-3 years at least.
