Re: Your view of Bucks ownership
I think they are billionaire Wall Street hedge fund managers who will make a lot of money when they finally cash in on this investment. People on this board are so bipolar and quick to change their tunes when the games start, a few impressive summer league performances from our young guys and one trade/FA signing people will get back on board. Our team is really young and it seems like people raise their expectations really fast, as far as player development goes we are way ahead of schedule even as unlucky as we've been with injuries. I really wish we could see all these young guys healthy playing together, I don't think we're as far away as some people think.

I think it did, because first, we were riding a high of getting new owners that said all the right things, we were getting owners that were doing all the right things to keep the team here, we were a bit vexed over how they brought Kidd in but were willing to overlook it because we were going to do things like "the spurs and OKC model" and "own the future" and they sold us, we bought it.
Then we start to see them exhibiting the same behaviors we loathed in Kohl, including nepotism, erratic decision making, inner owner turmoil/croneyism, what appeared to be a half ass win now series of moves that conflict with the "own the future" visions, selling assets for cash, and worst of all not only are they meddling, but they are adding layers of meddling to the hierarchy in Kidd, Thorn, etc.
Personally, I am torn between how much of this franchise is just a toy and how much it is just new ownership figuring out how to navigate their multi owner relationship. It seemed when they were all focused on the arena, there was a ton of synergy, but now that hurdle has been cleared, they don't seem to have the same alignment on what to do with themselves.
But like others said, SL could come along and DJ and Brown look great, maybe we make some kind of shrewd trade or two and tweak the roster, maybe they try to land a big fish to pair with Giannis, and in a year from now the team is playing well, we feel confident we have our core and our rosters let the basketball people make basketball decisions. Could certainly happen.

I think this is pretty much spot on.

Re: Your view of Bucks ownership
It's been almost a century since F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote that the very rich are different from you and me, but the message doesn't seem to have reached many on this forum yet. LED are not Average Joes, and applying Average Joe standards to them, or criticizing them for not living up to those standards, or complaining they do things differently from the way you would do them if you were an NBA owner, is a mistake.
Compared to other owners, LED aren't particularly meddling, incompetent, or high-handed. True, they probably see the Bucks as an asset, but that doesn't preclude them from feeling about this team the way, say, the Queen of England feels about the race horses she owns. There's emotional investment there, however tainted (at least in the eyes of the non-capitalists among us) by venal considerations.
And if we're turning professional sports into an ethics symposium, where is the outrage over a Michael Milken protege owning our baseball team? (Or for that matter MLB now embracing that crook?)

Your view of Bucks ownership
My biggest disappointment is the name/logo of the D-league. But, honestly, I don't care much about it. I really wanted a t-shirt or hat with our cool d-league team, but with what it is, I'll forgo. I'm happy about the arena; it's a unique design. The people of WI got screwed again with paying for a portion of its construction. I like the team. I don't expect a championship, but I'll tune in. I'm fine with the owners. There is so little transparency, I can't judge. I'm happy we got a young, bright GM and I'll judge him on his results. I don't hate Kidd. I think he's fine. I hope we continue to have the smart, leader-type veterans on the team to help mold our young players. I like the draft pick. He aligns with the plan. I'm excited to see him in a Bucks jersey. I don't mind bad moves, but once we determine the move was bad, it needs to be fixed quickly. I'm excited for the upcoming season. I hope the basketball gods are kind to us. My Buck fandom is strong. I prefer optimism to pessimism. I enjoy your comments, I enjoy this forum.
I admit to being a terrible judge of talent and having minimal knowledge of the game of basketball.

From the Lowe article:
EVEN THOUGH HE DIDN'T KNOW HE WAS A CANDIDATE
Even Horst was surprised by the move. According to sources, the job was already earmarked for him when he was summoned to see the owners two weeks ago in New York, even though he didn't know he was a candidate. The team began planning a press conference before Horst had even signed his deal.

Re: Your view of Bucks ownership
Yeah, this isn't good
You don't do that unless Edens is playing the trump card.
And, in two years Lasry retaliates and changes everything
The other owners and their attorneys double-checked the team's ownership agreement to make sure they understood Edens' power as governor correctly, sources say. Whether Edens ever played his trump card is unclear. Once the other owners understood the power structure, he might not have needed to. Above all, the owners truly prefer to operate in unanimity.

Then there's this wrinkle: Lasry takes over the governor role in two years from Edens under the conditions of an unusual ownership agreement that calls for Edens and Lasry to swap the governorship between them over five-year terms.
Antetokounmpo is scheduled to hit unrestricted free agency in 2021. The clock is ticking.

Re: Your view of Bucks ownership
Scheduling the presser without talking to Horst is very LED like. But the article just says what we all know already. Edens is the Governor for the first 5 years and then Lasry takes over. A 2-1 vote is all that is needed for decisions but they try to come to a consensus. Sure Edens could play his "trump card" but it sounds like he didn't. That's why Horst was chosen, all 3 were happy with that choice.

Re: Your view of Bucks ownership
Horst's hiring was a brokered solution after some disagreement among the ownership, sources say. When Horst had his introductory press conference last week in Milwaukee, Edens was the only partner present. That was not an accident. Lasry and Dinan had legitimate scheduling conflicts, but could have made time for the event had they really wanted to be there, sources say.

Yup. No new information. Just a loud, national article in case others weren't aware. I still contend that Jason Kidd is calling all the shots. Again, we'll sink or swim with him.

Re: Your view of Bucks ownership
I guess many of us weren't overreacting to the chaos and incompetence in the front office.
Nowhere in the article was a mention of Kidd's influence, but I am certain his voice carries a lot of weight with Lasry and Dinan.

We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

the article also says...
Despite going through the entire process, Edens still didn't think Zanik was the right man for the job, sources say. Still, majority rule within Milwaukee's ownership group would have dictated Zanik get the job by a 2-1 vote. Despite whatever prior arrangement was made, owner majority didn't rule the day.
so what happened?
