Somebody call Jimmy Butler and tell him to put Thibs on the phone if we get Teague!

This is why I can see Thibs doing this. We just have to wait and see how it plays out. If its Lowry, its an obvious upgrade. If its Teague, its more about fit.

It's the dollars though

If its 1201 AM, 4 year $80 mil for Teague that is a disaster. Mosgov-Lakers level read of FA

PG FA market is crap, wait it out if its not Lowry

We would have won with or without Ricky.

The thing with Jeff Teague is that he'll cost more with providing less or the same impact as Ricky.

You gotta go for Lowry at this point, Teague is a lateral move

Wrong, the love affair for Ricky Rubio blinds you from accepting the truth. The league currently requires point guards that can score.

Steph curry
Tony Parker
James harden
Chris Paul
George hill
Russel Westbrook
Mike Conley
Damian lillard

That's 1-8 in the west coast conference. No matter how much you love Ricky Rubio the man is completely in over his head in the west and won't take this team to the championship level/conversation.

Now you guys will see what a real point guard looks like.

What is it about Rubio that causes people to post, "if you all don't agree with me, it's because you are emotional, and I am rational!"

Your myopic view of the only way to play basketball is wrong. I will explain it to you at a different time. Moreover, if you think everyone is emotional about losing Ricky, then you are being exceptionally cruel to post this in his eulogy.

I can t believe Thibs has done this trade to sign Teague...

Hill or Lowry I think (hope)..

MIN does not need "Teague time" with Jimmy, Wiggins and KAT.

Ooo point guard upgrade coming, exciting! Gotta love Ricky tho. We went through real rough times and he never complained or made demands, always worked hard and never quit.

#not my Timberwolves

Ricky will tear it up in Utah. Those fans know how to appreciate passion, passing, and leadership.

I'm looking forward to side-by-side footage of Stockton and Rubio doing the same exact things 25 years apart.

The thing I'm excited about here is the fact that we did not sell him for peanuts. While we might not get a great pick, at least it wasn't the corpse of Derrick Rose.

A non lottery first round pick is peanuts. Horrible trade. Got an inferior PG that we will have to pay more money.

Lowry, and Iggy is more realistic. Basically it's Rubio for Lowry / Teague and a 1st.

Don't panic. This could simply be Thibs getting assurances from Teague camp if he strikes out getting a better PG. fall back position.

Also, keep in mind, Teague's agent has every reason to leak this falsely, trying to drum up interest in Teague and drive his price up.

Personally, For the fit on the Wolves, I rank them:

Lowry
JRue
HIll/Rubio
Teague

Normally I would agree with that, but Zach Lowe tweeted same thing and he is definitely not in the speculation/rumor game

Does not allow himself to used like that

Zach Lowe tweeted about Rubio being traded last year.

And his trade had us giving out the 2018 1st, which we had already traded to ATL.

Correct. In a vacuum, Rubio is a much better player than Teague, both right now and going forward. Teague is a marginally better fit on the Wolves because of his shooting and because the Wolves might be able to hide him on D if Wiggins ever starting guarding people.

For a fun time, compare FiveThirtyEight's CARMELO projections for Rubio ("borderline all-star") and Teague ("average starter"). https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/carmelo/

If you think Teague who plays no d and can't rebound or distribute anywhere near Rubio's level is superior you know nothing about basketball.

Rubio basically sucks.

Wolves will announce Teague soon. Welcome to the playoffs fellas, you can quote this in April when the wolves lock down a 4-6 seed.

It's a brand new day wolves fans. Thibs is a hero and workings towards executive of the year. Only bias Rubio fans will disagree. Nobody cares about rubios passing in today's nba, passing PGs don't exist anywhere except cp3 who's also a gifted scorer. Rubio isn't.

I'm fine with it.

The ball is going to be in Butler, Wiggins, and Towns hands the whole time. A ball dominant pg who can't shoot is just not a good fit. Clearly the wolves did not think Rubio's shot was legit and decided that Rubio cannot play well without being a ball-dominant pg. I mean, that is what Thibs tried to do in the beginning of the year and Rubio was god awful.

And that first round pick is useful for us to get more depth in a trade, which we are going to sorely lack either on the wing, pf, or pg position

Hopefully Hayward sticks around so that Rubio can definitely make the playoffs.
