Washington does it, because
1) George is better than Porter
2) They don't want to commit huge money to Porter

Gamble with the Wiz? I can see it both ways. Take a big shot to reach the conf. finals with Wall/Beal/George... if George leaves, opens up cap room for Wiz to fill areas of need. If George, after a season/playoffs run, sees potential there, maybe a deal can be done.

george leaving wouldnt open up cap space. they would still be right at the cap... less then the MLE under.

because they have tons of big contracts. Beal makes 25Mm Wall makes 19M, Mahinmi makes 16M, Gortat makes 13M thats 75M right there. if they let all pending guys go, decline all options, and let porter walk they are only a few million under the cap.

signing and trading porter for george is really smart for them. because they have no other means to add talent and porter on a max deal would lock them into this core for the forseable future

Someone asked what were Porter's numbers before and after Bogie's arrival. (Ignore the first part of both tweets.)

porter is just a role player. he is an average defender, average on offense, and adds good size and elite stand still 3 point shooting.

i like what kenny would have to work with and wouldnt mind overpaying him at say 16-18 million. but beyond that is an insane price tag for a guy who is a 4th wheel on a good team

If I'm the Wizards I would take the gamble on George.

Wall/Beal/George puts you in position to beat the Cavs next season.

If they can find a way to get rid of the Mahimi contract, they could have cap space for 2018 anyway.

I'm sure a team would take that contract for a First Rounder next off season.

After getting butler for peanuts

And butler is trying to recruit Lowry to the wolves... if they got him that team can make noise. adding 2 in prime veterans proven to impact wins to a young team that needed just that?

Lowry (22.4 ppg)
Butler (23.9 ppg)
Wiggins (23.6 ppg)
Towns (25.1 ppg)
Patton

that is pretty sick

Interesting to see if this is a bluff or a serious meeting. Iggy is a great role player, but he doesn't belong on our team.

Lowry would be a perfect addition. Good time to be a Wolves fan. What does their bench look like?

I heard this much earlier on the nba channel on Sirius XM.

I'm telling you, Lowry to San An. Blake Griffin follows after they dump LMA.

but who's going to take the LMA dump? Could SA and LAC do a S&T LMA for Blake? give Clippers something if they think Blake is goner? Maybe LAC doesn't want to do it though if they're going full rebuild, or demand more from SA.
