I understand Jim Peterson's points and also agree with him. I guess I was hoping we would not lose $4 million in cap space to sign Teague. I'd rather spend $10 million in cap space on Lowry then $4 million on Teague.

He's had his share of dirty plays with the likes of LeBron, Belly, Wall & Rose, but as long as he can space the floor for the other guys, it's whatever I guess. I just want to make the damn playoffs

We need more guys with an edge. It's something this team has lacked for years.

Yeah I agree. I am going to miss Ricky bad but Teague is just a much better fit. Teams have to worry about his shot and he can play off the ball which is a huge plus.

How do his defensive advanced stats compare to Rubio's?

Incredibly stupid to sign him right off the bat at 12:01

The PG market is non-existent

wait him or other PGs out!

That's fine and dandy until you overplay your hand and are stuck with Derrick Rose.

That's fine if he's the last one standing

Teague, Collison, Rose, Rondo, etc.

none of them move the needle in anyway, so why pay them like they do?

Ok...

Too each their own, but the fact you are putting Teague with those others makes me think you never watch the guy. Like good lord.

Rubio is cheaper for only 2 years. In the summer of 2019 either you skyrocket over the tax for Towns, Butler and Rubio. More then likely you don't sign all 3 because of the cap.

It's not a Teague for Rubio swap, it's a Teague and 1st for Rubio swap. Which probably will end up being a rotation player on rookie contract with THREE max players on the roster. There's not going to be cap space to keep all the talent down the road without some solid rookie/near vet minimum player contracts in the rotation.

I don't understand this comment.

The comment was what the contract is reported to be...

The point he is making is that we are spending our cap space we freed up with the Rubio trade on Teague....and because if that, we don't have much money to spend on other FA than we would have if we had just kept Rubio. I'm fine with trading Rubio to free up a large amount of cap space....if that is what you want to do. I just think we free up that much space, go after someone other than Jeff Teague. We lost about $4 million in cap space with the Rubio/Teague swap. I'd rather spend $25 million a year on Lowry.

Dude stop. Teague is much better than all of those players.I would put Rubio and Teague in the same class and IMO, both are better than George Hill.

So going from $20 in cap room to $16 is "bye bye cap room?"

Chris Long is a Weekend Sports Anchor for KSTP. If you have ever watched KSTP prime time news, you can guess what the weekend show is like. :-) Wouldn't put too much stock in his analysis...

I agree with you, and it makes me wonder if it's more about years than dollars? Teague at 3 years for $60, or Lowry at 4 years for $100? Maybe between them, George Hill and Jrue, he was the only one who would take a three year deal?

Thibs refused to give four year deals out last year, and let some free agents walk to teams that would, but that may have just been circumstances.

Teague is much better, no doubt

But rather go with mediocre PG like Collison for $6 mil or wherever the market dries up (with Butler handling most of the primary ball handling)

Teague is not going to win any PG matchups so why pay him like he can?
Just strengthen other positions instead

Just hope for OKC to sign Rudy Gay like they're trying to do. Make sure you get a 15-22 draft pick next year.

Not exactly....it's Teague plus a lottery protected draft pick for Rubio and $4 million a year in cap space. Again, I am fine with the Rubio trade for cap space right before July 1st. I'm even okay with Teague....and the same price as Rubio or below market value. It just feels like we paid more than market value for him in a year when very few teams have that kind of cap room for him this summer.

Yeah, think im done arguing with him about Teague. He is wayyy too far one way.

Dont get me wrong, I wanted Lowry but if we land Teague im going to be pretty happy with the swap considering what we're trying to build. Going to mkss Rubio, but I prefer winning than keeping guys just because I like them a lot. Jim Pete just made me feel even better regarding the move...even though I knew that prior I respect the hell out of what he says.

How does Minnesota pay Lowery 25 million and KAT, Butler and Wiggins near max money and have anything else on the team? One year I could see management allowing it to happen, 2 years I'm not so sure.
