Seeing how little OKC had to give up, it makes me feel PG hasn't committed to them longterm.

Not so fast. Shelburne saying it's for Oladipo and Sabonis. That sounds more like OKC making a one-year run and praying it will change his mind about signing with the Lakers.

And show Westbrook that it's worth sticking around too.

Ballsy play, doubling down. I think that's a big risk for a guy on a one year deal, who told his agent to send a memo to 28 teams, that read, "if you trade for me, I will not re-sign with you next year."

What???? Millsap and Horford were comfortably better. Are you even serious?

They couldn't afford both and Schroder was younger

If going to spend $18 mil/yr, get a difference maker on the roster. Teague isn't that to me
Otherwise use it elsewhere, just get a wing or combo guard that can defend the opposing PG instead

Teague was one of the biggest assist men in the league last year. He is a traditional PG. Probably a better distributor than Butler.

But how good of a distributor is he going to be when the ball is in Butler's hands?

He will still be a very good distributor, but with that ability being somewhat wasted.

So teams don't trade good players for 1st round picks in order to clear cap space for free agency?

That's what Atlanta did last year (wanted to retain Horford) and what Minnesota is doing this year.

But for some of us, this team feels like a 5th or 6th seed in the west...and honestly, we are not a title contender next season or even the season after that with Golden State looking like they will be good for the next 3-4 years. We traded 3 young key p pieces with team control for Butler. I get Butler is an excellent two way player. But he is not Michael Jordan or Scottie Pippen. We could have been patient with LaVine and the other two pieces we traded to see how they looked at the end of this year. With all these moves it feels like we are almost moving all in on a team that seems to be a 5th seed in the west. If you are going to move all in, I'm not sure that Teague is the guy you want to move all in with. I get it....we still have Wiggins and KAT.....but maybe the move all in was a little pre mature.

Minnesota needed some knowns for the future. This is the summer to make moves with free agents before everyone got paid. You have no idea if either wing(Wiggins or LaVine) would ever be good enough defensively to pay them both and be a good team.

I think Minnesota will be vastly better next year, I watched Butler nearly by himself get Chicago to .500. Give him Towns, Wiggins, Dieng and Teague? That's a great starting lineup with 2 all-nba quality talents and 2 very good players and a nice workhorse in Dieng.

I personally think that once the wolves get their chemistry down they will matchup with Golden State pretty well, GS will still be favored of course but Minnesota should make them work to win.

Teague was 36.4% Assist, 16.5% TOV

Butler was 29% Assist, 9.3% TOV while carrying huge scoring load
9.3%! that is insane considering the positions he was put with the ball

Give him KAT, Wig and a legit spacing guard or wing, which is not Teague, and let him operate

We won't have that legit spacing guard most likely. Not one who is a volume three point shooter. I would love to get Korver, but I don't think that will happen.

Obviously not...

If a player gets let go/dealt from a team they are flaming garbage. How didn't you know?

It was three years ago that they won 60 games and he wasn't their best player. One other thing....people on here act like he is this three point shooting specialist. Teague doesn't take many three point shots.

I actually agree with shrink in thinking the move for Teague relates to the amount of years on the contract. Rubio may not resign when his contract expires (or he may not play well enough to receive an offer). The problem is with no pick next year, there would be no replacement plan.

Teague is only 29, thus the three years minimizes the possible decline whereas ac4-year deal with Lowry may have been prohibitive should his play begin to suffer on the back of the contract.

Well... the upside is that we're almost guaranteed to get it. There was a chance OKC would miss the playoffs because it would have been less likely for Brodie to have another season like the last one. And if he had been injured, they're lottery bound. And we'd eventually get two 2nd rounders. Yay.

This is also a way to get out of Olipido's contract. I think it was apparent that paying Westbrook, Adams and Olipido big money wasn't winning anything. Go for broke and if it doesn't work you just reshuffle the cards again.
