Matt Stairs

Post#1 » by GYBE » Tue Jul 24, 2007 11:54 pm

Apparently Jim Hendry has dispatched his crack team of Cubs scouts to watch Matt Stairs. I'm, uh, not exactly excited about the acqusition despite watching a lot of him this year (I'm around Toronto, holla!).

But what exactly would the Jays be looking for as far as value goes? Enlighten me.

Matt Stairs has unexpectedly become quite the leader in the locker room, as well as on the field. He has had his clutch moments, and seems to do a very good at his role.
Him going to the NL might be a problem, he's no defensive specialist

He'd probably play sparingly in RF, mostly a bat off the bench. Daryle Ward went down as our main PH, presumably he'd be filling that role.

The thing with Stairs is that his whole career he has batted extremely well in Rogers Centre/Skydome. He is really comfortable there/here and I definitely wouldnt expect the same production elsewhere. He really enjoys being in his home country as well.

Yeah, I really don't want him. He should play out the rest of his career with the Jays.

The one guy I really want for the Cubs is Scott Downs. I've been really impressed with him all season. A good lefty is probably our biggest hole at this point.

How about Jason Frasor?

He's... uh... uhm... able to throw a ball fast?
