I've wanted him off the roster and on the coaching staff for the past couple of years. I know he's on the roster to be a mentor, but I think we would be better served opening up a roster spot to try find another diamond in the rough and have him move into a coaching spot.

Miami Heat sign Bam Adebayo, now locked into $2.5 million of cap space
The inevitable became official Saturday, with the Heat announcing the signing of first-round NBA draft pick Bam Adebayo.
Unlike during previous years, when it was beneficial for teams to delay the signing of draft picks to maximize cap space, the NBA's new collective-bargaining agreement provides no such benefit.
That allowed the Heat to sign Adebayo in advance of Saturday's opener against the Charlotte Hornets at the Orlando Pro Summer League, instead of having to turn to an insurance policy.
Under the NBA's rookie scale, the Heat can control Adebayo's rights for four seasons, with the right to match outside offers during the fifth year.
Adebayo's contract starts at $2.5 million for next season, the scale for a player selected at No. 14, when factoring the allowable 20-percent raise allowed above the scale.
With Adebayo, the Heat now have 11 players under contracts for next season, with Chris Bosh soon to be waived to create salary-cap space. The others under contract are Adebayo, Hassan Whiteside, Udonis Haslem, Tyler Johnson, Justise Winslow, Josh Richardson, Rodney McGruder, Okaro White, Josh McRoberts and Wayne Ellington, who has a Friday deadline for his contract to be guaranteed for this season.
Teams are allowed to carry a maximum of 20 players in the offseason, with a limit of 15 at the start of the regular season, plus two players on two-way contracts with the G-League.
Adebayo appeared in 38 games (all starts) as a freshman at Kentucky and averaged 13.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.50 blocks in 30.1 minutes per game, while shooting 59.9 percent from the field. He was selected to the All-SEC second team and the SEC All-Tournament team after helping the Wildcats win the SEC Championship.
Adebayo led the Wildcats in rebounds (304), blocks (57) and double-doubles (8) and finished second on the team in free throws made (154) and minutes (1,145) and third in points (494). He recorded 101 dunks, the most for a single-season by any Kentucky player under head coach John Calipari, surpassing Anthony Davis' 92 in 2011-12.
