Some names to look think of if we miss out on Reddick and RFA:

SG:
Jodie Meeks
Edwin Jackson
Tony Allen
Tyreke Evans
Justin Holiday

If you want a defender, just bring back KJ. And at C, Speights is the perfect fit. Good vet presence, can space the floor, and is the perfect addition to the C rotation. Last year he averaged 8.7 ppg on 15 mpg on 37% 3P (not a small sample size either. 3.4 3PA per game)

Play Mosgov 20 mins, and 14 each for Speights + Allen. Perfect.

If we pick up Redick, we BADLY need to find a starting level big. I don't feel good about any of our PFs or C's getting starter type minutes.

I don't think Redick would sign if we're not going to field a competitive team. The team isn't happening with a front court of RHJ/Mozgov.

I don't think that Marks needs to really hand out big money here. This FA crop is not worth it. Value veteran signings. I like Ingles, but giving him big money is a disaster.

Would only like Ingles on a 2yr deal. However he is a RFA, so I doubt that would work.

Hopefully we are keeping an eye on James Johnson.

Let it play out as is for now unless a great trade comes up. Maybe even something solid like Danny Green and a pick for Goodwin/Harris/cap space.

Ingles doesn't move the needle. Olynick is solid, but more center than power forward. Gallo would actually make sense but he's always injured, older and wants 4 years and $80 to $95 million. Redick wants to start.

Stand pat. No value contracts which clog the cap long term. Redick would be nice even for 2 years and $40+ million, but again, he wants to start and cannot start at the 3.

I'll trust Marks, but I don't see value for us in FA unless Washington were bluffing and let Porter walk.

Please no to KCP.

Agree on standing pat. Wait for a team to offload it's goods like DLo (what a steal) or take on a bad contract with good future picks.

Yep, if anything learn from last year's disastrous signings. The Lakers had to give up DLo to get rid of Mozgov, lol. We don't need to make the same mistake and overpay mid-level players.

I think you just have to keep in mind that we are shedding 29.1 of empty salary between D-Will, Mozgov, and Nicholson 3 years from now. A year before that, D-Lo and RHJ are up for a big pay .D-Lo's 300% increase will cost us about 21mill year one and RHJ if development stays intact will cost us at 16 mill year one. In 3 years time, LeVert, and Whitehead will not be under contract. We will only have Jarrett Allen and 2-3 other rookies under contract. Which we can say will cost between 8-18 mill (depending where we land on draft night). There are two ways Marks is looking at this. We can spend as much as we want as long as we stay under luxury tax in the next 3 years in order to have a shot at signing a max contract when all our young cores developed. OR we can overpay 2 years deals right now so we can use those expiring contracts 2 years from now to gain more assets. The most important thing to do is to stay under luxury tax in order to have the mobility to do what we can on whatever transpires.

From i'm guessing we can still sign a big FA it's just a matter of a 3 year deal.

Am happy with all players I've seen reports of Nets having interest in

Reddick
Amir Johnson
Joe Ingles

All great players, great locker room presence

The below re Knicks made me like Reddick even more

Redick met with the 76ers Sunday night, Woj reported, and has interest from the Timberwolves, Rockets and Knicks as well as the Nets. The Knicks do not interest Redick, Woj added. Woj noted that Redick owns a home in DUMBO, Brooklyn and “has family there.” He’s also worked out at Brooklyn’s HSS Training Center this off-season and is said to have become close with Adam Harrington, Nets Director of Player Development.

Ingles made JJ look reaaaaal bad in that vid. A combo of Ingles being a good defender and JJ being a terrible player with the ball against straight up defense.

JJ without around the world screens cant really do much on offense (IE when both DJ and Blake are setting hard screens to free him up). So unless BRK really wants to feature JJ on offense without compromising the rest of the motion O, he's really a terrible fit at big money. U really want to tie up that much cap on a player who cant beat his man 1v1 in any reliable form? Sure he can space the floor but better off developing Harris or SKil to space the floor for 1 mil instead.

So far PHI has thrown out 1 year 20 mil for JJ. Looks like his market is more in the 4 year 64 mil tops range. I was rather baffled at teams being willing to offer him big money 20 mil a year long term.

Ingles otoh is a great fit if he can defend PFs some. Perfect stretch forward, but i dont think he's got the size, girth, or athleticism to check above avg PFs at all.

Does anyone have a good rule book link that goes over all the Free Agency regulations? Specifically I'm not sure exactly how RFA works in terms of tying up cap space (if it does at all) and matching periods.

Thanks in advance

Once an offer sheet is signed it ties up cap space until other team matches. That's why Nets were screwed last offseason and had to pick over the leftovers

RHJ is closer to being out of the league than being a 16 mil per year player.

Redick is a 15 ppg scorer at 41% from 3 for his CAREER and a good defender. Utah is one of the best defensive teams in the league and using a one series sample size to bash him is ridiculous.

He's an off the ball player. That's still REALLY useful - especially in our offense. Look at how many 3s Harris got on the move coming off screens. He's just not good enough to hit those shots or command a lot of attention. Redick is.

I'd do 2/44 or 3/54. He either gets his 3 year deal or his extreme overpay but not both.
