I paid more in my Paul George trade. Damn. And I thought I got a steal. And to quote myself...

Either they're low balling him or hes just being greedy.
Seems like the latter.
It actually sounds like he could be headed for Houston. The meeting reportedly went excellent and he's now canceled the remaining meetings.

I don't understand.
Houston doesn't have much cap space?
How can they offer him more than the Warriors who have his bird rights?

The Warriors won't offer him more than 12 million to save on luxury tax so they can give Durant more. It's not a money issue, it's a desire issue. The Warriors don't want to offer him more than other teams can and will.
Still, with that said, Houston is a terrible fit for him.

That's okay by me. I really like the Nets signing JJ Redick before we traded for D'Angelo Russell. But we just don't have the room and playing time for him anymore afterward.

Re: Around the NBA, 2016-17 Season thread
Fultz, JJ, Simmons, Saric, Embiid
Assuming Embiid stays healthy and Fultz/Simmons arent flops/injured all year, it'll prolly take the 8th seed.
Sixers NEEDED a sniper/floor spacer BADLY, way worse than BRK. Fultz is an unknown but likely will be a decent 3pt shooter, Simmons has no range, Saric should be good, Embiid above avg for a big. With Simmons playing point forward, he'll have at least 2 good outside threats at all times.
Time to see if Brett Brown is a good coach.
Oh snap and i TOTALLY forgot about Robert Covington. Well Simmons can prolly play 3/4, so i guess whoever starts at the other forward will depend on matchups.
Well Lin fanatics, JJ aint coming to town to push Lin to the bench. Now go freak out over George Hill coming over now

No good free agent is signing with them.Prokorov wrote:DarkXaero wrote:But why the hell should a team care if they're rebuilding/tanking? It's not like Indiana was going to be competing with Boston anytime soon. Hell, they aren't even in the same division. Pacers could have also traded PG to Lakers for a better package than what they got from Thunder. Oladipo is a mediocre player on a bad contract. Sabonis might become a decent player, far from a certainty. It's a terrible return. Nets could have hypothetically offered RHJ + Whitehead, even that would be a better return IMO.Mkdaman1818 wrote:
Seems clear they were focused on trading him out or conference, can't believe Cleveland (Love) or Boston didn't offer a better package for that.
maybe they dont plan on rebuilding. they have max cap room

Covington should start over Saric.Vae Victus wrote:Fultz, JJ, Simmons, Saric, Embiid

Fultz
Redick
Covington
Simmons
Embiid
That looks like a really balanced starting unit to me (with Saric as sixth man). Only Simmons cant shoot 3s in there. They should be a lot of fun to watch, assuming they stay healthy. For all the **** that he got from Sixers fans when he took over, Bryan Colangelo has done a great job continuing Sixers progress. He somehow got them the #1 pick this draft (also had a great overall draft) and managed to sign Redick on a 1 year deal.

JJ for one year won't do the Nets any good. Good $$ for him though.
I'm just excited to see my man PG13 pairing up with Russ.

Na I think AI is a great fit in Houston, they are going to run a face pace offense and Iggy fits right next to Ariza as a wing defender, he can also play the 4 and knows how to get up and down. Will be alot of fun to watch with CP3 passes.
