Re: Trade & Free Agency Ideas & Discussion 2
I'm just spit balling here but the Suns always do deals that nobody is expecting sooo....
What if signing Millsap is a precursor to getting Gordon Hayward? Their close friends from their Jazz days...
I don't know how it would work salary wise, my guess is we would have to use all the Heat picks and Warren to dump Knight and Chandler somewhere for the cap room.
Would you guys be okay with signing Millsap to a fat contract if it meant getting Hayward too?
It's just a random guess but I just can't see McDonough being stupid enough to go after Millsap without there being a legit reason like this.

Can't let Alan walk simply because of the chemistry he brings. He and Tyler share a brain in those pick n rolls. He is the entire energy on the bench. He also outplays Len on a regular basis

Yeah, but that depends on the money.
Do you want him for $36M/3 years...for example? He is a bench player, I want him back but on a low salary.
12 M is a low salary nowadays.
Exactly how much we're paying Knight. Hmmm

That's an interesting idea, but Hayward is no Kevin Durant. I don't think it's worth paying him the max just to get swept by Golden State.

Monroe was critical for them the past season.
Then why are they shopping him for cap relief?
It’s no secret that the Bucks need to clear some cap room–or, more correctly, get farther from the luxury tax that is suddenly quite close. As I wrote earlier, the Milwaukee Bucks are in salary cap hell. The moves that many have expected the Bucks to make are moving one or more of Matthew Dellavedova, Mirza Teletovic, and John Henson. All three of those players are reserves, and all of them make something around $10 million for the next two seasons at least.

Knight drops them down $5M, and provides a player at a position of need for them.

Knight gets 14M and he is incomparable with Williams.

I think ultimately Minnesota will probably offer Dieng in a S&T for Millsap. Theoretically they shouldn't have to offer Atlanta anything, but they don't have the cap space after Teague. Dieng would give Atlanta incentive to do a S&T.
Also, Thibs loves Millsap.

ESPN NBA Trade Machine said $12,606,250. Might be this past year's salary.
My larger point is that if 12M is a low salary, we should be content to hang on to Knight and not give up assets to get rid of him.

Even getting 5M is too much for Knight

I'd rather have Hill if we're trading with New Orleans. At least he could still be somewhat useful. Asik is useless in this era of NBA basketball.
If you want him off the team that bad just salary dump him with the Miami pick and then rinse the vomit off your suit.
I don't think anyone wants Asik on the team. I'm sure people would rather have Hill. But we are talking actual realistic offers where we maybe wouldn't have to dump an asset to get rid of him. He makes $3-$4 million less per year. According to Spotrac his last year with the player option only has $3 million guaranteed. http://www.spotrac.com/nba/new-orleans-pelicans/omer-asik-7110/
Of course it's easy to say "We should trade Knight for Millsap" or any useful player, but that's extremely unlikely to happen.
I agree. I would love to get value for Knight - but that's not happening. So, you try to find a bad contract with one less year or something with that player having better value for your team. If you being over Asik - you can pretty much trade Chandler for value or let Len walk; and Sauce too.
Shumpert to the Rockets for trade exception - I looked on Spotrac - the Rockets don't have a trade exception - how does one make this just materialize?

Warriors to meet with Andre Iguodala, expected to offer him a three-year, up to $45M contract.

$12M is a little bit over an average salary.
Under $8M is a low salary IMO.

In looking at Spotrac - the Wolves after signing Teague have $1.6m of cap space and have players totaling about $17m So, yes, they renounce a lot of those players (Muhammed and Rush for starters) - and if they include a guy like Dieng, that probably can get well under the cap or close to it
Twolves can also include Bjelica and probably would be able to hit the Max number for Millsap.
But this is where was hoping maybe the Suns can be a player by moving the Knight deal to Atlanta and taking back a TPE from the Hawks, giving them a first round pick from Miami to help with the numbers.
One other thing - Nets missed out on Reddick - would they buy another first round pick for Knight since they missed on Reddick and probably will not get Otto Porter when the Wizards match
Just trying to find a team that can take on Knight - its hard man. All these writers like Lowe come up with trade proposals to dump contracts, GMs figure it out - but I am struggling to find a real match for Knight. And it looks like my Shumpert for Knight (a long shot too be sure - is don)e. Not that it ever was granted

For real.
I've been saying this since the day we signed him. You guys just need to realize that Brandon Knight is going to be an overpaid bench player on this team for the next 3 years.

Good.
We struck out on Jimmy Buckets and Blake. It's a bummer, but that's what happened. The worst thing we could do is chase guys like Millsap to try and make up for it.
This team is going to be bad for a couple of more years. We're all prepared for it, so it's best to just let it happen.
