Make TJ the starter at two and i'm good.

Yes. TJ and James Johnson will be starters. Something like this:

Dragic, TJ, Hayward, JJ, Whiteside
Richardson, Okaro, Adebayo, UD (on minimum)

We need to waive McRoberts and stretch him.

For Ellington, maybe sign him for the room exception. It's a discount this year of $1.8, but then he gets two years instead of one (so more money altogeter) and we'll have his bird rights.

That's so goos. Help me get over Waiters fast

i like JJ and Tj off the bench.

i'd even take something like

dragic/jrich
mcgruder/tj
hayward/winslow
babbit/jj/bam
whiteside/bam

love that spacing for the staring lineup, would like an upgrade at the 4 but babit with bird rights and shooting 40% from 3 is fine for me.

You're right. That works good too. And I don't know how I forgot about Babbitt, the one player we can sign over the cap (because we have his bird rights.) Good resource.

By the way, I think we'll sign a PG for minimum to backup Dragic as well. Heat will be looking long and hard at the summer league play too.

The thought of

Dragic/Rich
TJ/McGruder
Hayward/Winslow
JJ/Someone
Whiteside/Bam

Made me cum a bit

I'll be very sad to see Waiters go. I really like him. If he goes to the Kings, though, it would also make me happy if he can get them to the playoffs. That's a sad franchise. They need him more than we do.

We are Croesus compared to Sacramento:

Let me try that again:

Dragic, TJ, Hayward, JJ, Whiteside
Babbitt (bird rights), Winslow, Ellington (renounce and then sign to room exception), Richardson, Okaro, Adebayo, UD (minimum)

Plus 3 minimum slots.

if it comes down to waiters or JJ, you have to go JJ i think. more versatile, better defender. it really all depends on what other teams are offering, if kings are offering waiters 16+ per, forget about it. ideally he is getting 10mil range offers so when we hit him with 8mil a year it wont be so bad.

I can see the Kings throwing him some real money. Nets too. And, yeah, I can imagine that pose after hitting a 3 against us in MSG.

My real fear is that he goes to the Pacers. They have some space and only Ellis to compete against for the spot. Not tough at all for him.

So you're telling me they aren't gonna bring Brady like they did with KD last year?

I keep losing players. It's the wine... ;-)

We could also send a second round pick + McRoberts in exchange for a 2nd (56-60), if we could find a willing partner. (crickets)

Well, we can't keep Dion and JJ, but we could keep Dion and Ellington or JJ and Ellington. Our weakness is in the front court, though, so we have to keep JJ.

Now... the real trick is signing Ellington to the Room Exception. If Riley can do that, I'd be very impressed.

They can play together. Lance at SF and ear blower. Oladipo might be PG on that team (like he was on the Magic) if they get Waiters.

It probably won't happen. It's just my current paranoid worry.

Gotta pick JJ over Dion, he's more of a sure thing.
