How the hell could you like the Amir Johnson signing but not get the Redick signing for the Sixers? Jordan Schultz is so clearly in over his head every time he tries to give his own take.

Whoever this dude is, hes an idiot.

I don't like either signing to be honest. Neither moves the needle at all but hey whatever it's not my money if they want to waste 23 million on a 12-14 million player go ahead.

But I would have preferred to bring in one player at least who would be part of our longterm plans. Someone like Porter.

We need to project ourselves as capable to be a short term winning team so that we can get star FAs next season

We can safely say the Sixers (assuming health) just jumped New York, Detroit, Chicago, Indiana, Orlando, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Miami. They were already ahead of Brooklyn.

If Hayward signs in Miami they move ahead. Toronto to me is like a toss up, could go either way.

So that leaves Washington, Boston, Milwaukee, and Cleveland. That puts the Sixers as a 5-7 seed. Not bad.

My issue is if they don't extend Covington now, how big of a hit is that to the team? #TTP #waituntilnovember

Charlotte may not be doing things people love, but they might be decent. Think saying we're better then them immediately is a bit premature imo.

Loved the Dwight trade. And then they signed MCW.

Thats what I was thinking  I wasn't that thrilled at first but if he is able to spread the floor for our big 3 and we can sneak into the playoffs, it will showcase our team and possibly land a big time free agent next year and have a big 4 :D

Exactly right. Make the playoffs, have the kids show some promise, and then you are a player for max FA's. We already know Embiid will gladly recruit.

"We will not bat a thousand on every single draft pick. We also have them by the bushelful, in part, because of that. We don't have any hubris that we will get them all right. We're not certain that we have an enormous edge over anybody else. In some cases, we might not have an edge at all."

So maybe Hinkie missed on Okafor and Noel. He was right on Embiid and hopefully BC is right on Simmons and Fultz.

"What we look at is, how do we add to what we're doing in a way that gets us closer to our goal? We don't think that it will necessarily be linear — that every year you will add five wins and after 10 years you will get to 50. That's not the way we think about the world. We think that it comes at fits and starts, and you have to be prepared to put yourself in a position that you might be able to make big leaps."

Love it! Growth may not be linear. Hell we are on an exponential curve now.

When asked when he'll know when the rebuilding process is complete and he has the right players in place, Hinkie responded ominously, "We'll all know. We'll all know."

Possibly my favorite. I think we all know. The rebuilding may not be totally complete but we are close.

Hinkie didn't miss on Noel. Okafor at this point is a miss, but Noel can be a starting center in the league.

It's an overpay, but that's what you have to do to entice players to pass on longer term offers.

I'm a little surprised that some people are struggling to grasp the concept that we overpaid short-term to maintain long-term salary cap flexibility.

Kapono lost all of his shooting touch and since we were running that **** ass princeton offense, we needed him even more...he never recovered.

I also remember Eddie Jordan playing him at the 5 and ****.

that year damn near killed me.

It's not out of the realms of possibility that this could just turn into a very "front loaded" deal where he gets more of his money in year 1 and then signs on for less after that. BC may have even said that to him... come for 1 year and make a fortune.. we have heaps of cap space and then we will revisit if it all works out after that.

There is nothing to say Redick doesn't decide he wants to stay after this 1 year and for much less money. For Redick it's the perfect storm... he gets his big money for next year and after that he is free to move on and get big money elsewhere or he signs back on with the Sixers anyway and it ends up evening out with the other deals he had been offered.

That sounds illegal though.

Also incredibly stupid because there is nothing holding him to the agreement and you've paid him around 10 million more then he's worth. So yeah once again not my money but I'd have least of liked to have us taken a stab at Porter and/pr Hayward. If JJ was the fallback fine.

Whatever what done is done. I honestly hate the Amir signing the most because we already have good depth at the position. Whatever, if the plan is to put all the eggs in 2018 fine at least he didn't offer these players 2 year deals like last offseason manu and crawford.

How often do RFA not stay where they are at? Thinking we could steal Otto from Wash is a stretch. There really isn't a FA move to be made realistically that would've moved the needle. Not a strong FA class at all.

Not saying they did under the counter deals... saying that the talks would have been come over for 1 year and get paid and then see how it goes from there.

All the talk is about Redick now wanting to come here... so it's not out of the realms of possibility he will re-sign later on and for much less.
