I guess you missed the Paul George trade

I dont know if you are omitting this on purpose or not, but you are obviously missing the huge fact that George only had one year left on his contract and told indiana management that he would leave next off-season. DeRozan is locked up for another 4 years and has stated no intentions of trying to leave in any shape or form

The fact that OG dropped to us in the draft and we still passed on him will never not heart my brain. I'd love for them to get him in a trade, but they never should've passed on him to begin with.

Derozan has 4 years on his contract.

paul george was a pending free agent who flat out said he was going to LA

i dont think you can compare the 2 situations at all.

a better example is jimmy butler who has 3 years on his deal. Butler didnt get a great return but it was certainly not a salary dump.

Yea I get it, but Bulls still didn't get much in return. I love Lavine, but we don't know how he will bounce back, Dunn had a terrible rookie year and Idk about the guy they drafted. But the Bulls still traded the 16th pick to move up to 7th... The trades going on now sucks and I don't really understand it... Even tho Pacers should of still at least got a 1st round pick back

I agree it was a weak return for the bulls. but it was nowhere close to having to pay to give up butler in a salary dump.

the point was Derozan 100% has positive value and would get back assets in return. and is not some salary dump you can get for cap space.

i love this move if we can get OG. that would be a steal for marks

If we went into the season with:
1. Lin/Dinwiddie
2. DLo/Whitehead
3. Carroll/OG
4. RHJ/Acy
5. Mozgoc/Allen
8-) 8-) 8-)

Yea I know, but I still don't think Derozan would get back a lotto pick today, not the way trades are going down today.

i think he either gets a lotto pick or a player recently picked in the lotto (like Dunn/Levine/Russell/etc) and another asset.

Oversight. LeVert takes Whitehead's spot obviously.

All apologies. I wasn't sure where to post this, but this seemed like a good place.

I posted a trade idea on T&T with a poll for your consideration:

Mark's wants to create a defense where all the defenders can switch with ease, right? Think about a core of LeVert/OG/RHJ. You would always have an above average perimeter defender on the court. Russell would've been easily protected on defense. RHJ and OG both have elite defensive potential.

I don't know. I just think we had a tremendous opportunity to have a core with young, hyperathletic defensive studs. Plus I don't think would've been hard to acquire another pick and draft a Center. It was a deep draft when in came to big men. However, it's not every day you get to draft a 19 year old defensive stud who has an NBA ready body to go along with a 8 foot wingspan.

That's why I'm okay with maxing KCP, and want to bring back KJ. KCP himself might not be worth a max contract, but adding him to the core still fits into that vision. With contending NBA teams having like 3 offensive superstars on their team, you need a deep arsenal of athletic 6-6 - 6-8 defenders to stop them. That's going to be the key to defeating these super teams. Not saying it's going to win us a chip, I'm just saying I believe this is how the league is going to counter these super teams.

For those not opposed to a KCP/Porter max... id point out the situation the pistons are in. they are a capped out non playoff team with good but not great young talent.

that could be us if Dlo and levert dont become all-star calinbur players if we max out porter or kcp

i LOVE OG... he was right near the top of my board with patton and semi. but Allen is a better prospect. and while its great to switch 1 through 4 having a D anchor at center who can blow up pick and rolls and switch on to gaurds and wings an hold his own is even more important.

i think its easier to find a wing who can switch to 2/3/4 then it is a potential anchor at center

Yea I'm good on KCP or anybody near max tbh... I think we should just stand pat and wait for trades with assets to come by because I'm pretty sure there will be some... Like the Hornets, Rockets, Portland etc.. will be looking to give up assets for contracts. I also think were good at the guard positions, just would like a knock down 3 point shooter like Meeks or CJ Miles etc..

yup....

in fact i wouldnt be suprised if we could get KCP or porter in a trade a year from now AND get paid an asset to take them.

kind of like allen crabbe right now.

KCP will become one of the leagues 5 worst contracts the instant he signs the max. detroit will be right at the tax line with a non playoff team

Return to Brooklyn Nets
