He knows how far off we are and was a bit disappointed with our teams defensive identity. Not a huge shock.

He made the right move.

I'm suprised on how many though he'd back back tbh.

I had bets offered to me on here lol

I had it hedged at 80 he leaves 20 he stays. lol I'm one of the poor souls who rewatched the Cavs series and you can visibly see how he irked he was with Casey - the general effort and attitude - and the compete level as a top seeded EC adversary.

He was all about finding a better team to join and entertained us out of respect for Ujiri. Nothing personal, I agree with him.

I don't think it alters much tbh brah

he'll re-sign Lowry and Ibaka and bring in a Tucker replacement

Same core different roles players :(

It's also pretty clear that the Rockets are going for it. Raptors are still not committed to the team. Don't blame him for going to a more sure situation.

Let's hope we somehow manage to snag thabo or Tony Allen or VC instead now. I know Tony unlikely but other two might be possible.

You're probably right. In a sense, Anunoby kind of fits into that Tucker mold. But, it's interesting, if Windhorst's report is true, we made a pretty decent offer, so I think the Raps wanted him back. The plan might have been to re-sign all three of Lowry, Ibaka, and Tucker to 3 yr deals, while offloading Carroll (and possibly JV). Now, I'm not so sure what happens with Carroll. It's possible he gets traded, but I suspect we won't do so until we have another wing lined up somewhere (possibly Sefolosha).

Here's the thing

Lowry gets 27 million and ibaka gets 20 million I guess. We sign og 1.4 million

We're at 79.6 million right now add those 3. We're at 128 million

We're still 9 million over the luxary tax. We haven't used the MLE. You trade Carroll and there's no proper SF.

The MLE needs to be a SF. If then your still over the luxary tax by 3-4 million

Our cap situation with the talent level. It's crazy bad

tbh, i don't know how you can get MORE committed to this team than trying to bring back essentially the same team as last year. they obviously tried to sign tucker and they're still trying to sign lowry and ibaka. tucker just went to what he felt was the better situation.

Factoring taxes, he is actually going to earn more, albeit over 4 years. If we assume a vet min in his 4th year at 37, it's pretty much a wash.

Rumors that we're trying to get under the tax line by dumping Carroll/JV. Rumors that we have considered going and young and could choose to do so if the price isn't right. The insistence on 3 year deals which signals a 2 year leash. It really doesn't scream commitment to be honest. Houston on the other hand is going for broke and they are doing it masterfully.
