yeah but you said it wanst possible to make it a sign and trade and hell yes its possible. tucker still gets all his money just the paperwork is different. happens all the time.

Please link me to an example of a sign and trade being announced days after the original signing because I've watched NBA for 25+ years now and don't remember ever seeing that before

Lebron going to Miami was technically sign and trade after he announced he was going to Miami.

CP3 told the Clippers he was going to sign with the Rockets and instead they worked it out to where he instead opted into his deal and was traded.

This actually happens all the time where players tell their teams they'll be signing with another team during the moratorium and then instead of the player outright leaving it turns into a sign and trade.

haha PJ knows whats up with this core. He ain't no dummy.

Why would I want to play for the Raptors if I'm an in-demand NBA role player? The coach sucks, there's no ball movement, my all-star teammates shrink in the playoffs, I have to play next to Demarre Carroll etc...

I'd take less money and go to Houston too if I were him. Raps are in a bad place right now. Good thing we have a young core that can take over in the next few years.

Maybe, if we could trade Carroll. So the really bad news is, get ready for more Carroll.

Part of me believes this was a huge part of Masai taking so long to re-sign Lowry and Ibaka.

Honestly, losing Tucker is a big blow to the overall outlook of this team. We were already lacking veteran depth, shooting, defense and toughness; and we just lost all that and more in Tucker. He was basically our 6th man.

We don't have the resources to really fill that role. If we use our MLE, we are going to be a tax paying team. We are also basically stuck with Carroll. We can't fill the starting SF, back up SF and PF position in our current cap situation.

He was tired of seeing Lowry moping on the sidelines. Heck, I'd leave too.

Not really mad about this when you look at the fact we drafted OG who can bring the same defence Tucker brings and he can play right away. What the raptors need right now is 3 point shooting.

i was told that players want to play here because goofball drake comes to a couple games, acts like an idiot for attention and these kids think every NBA player loves Toronto.. WE'RE STILL IN CANADA!! Like celtic fans says " people in the US don't care about canada"

Well playing with a backcourt of Harden/Paul is more appealing than Derozan/Lowry. Then you factor in the sunny weather and supposedly no state income tax (really?) and texas BBQ....Honestly the texas BBQ was probably the difference maker in his decision

I don't know why everyone thinks the Rockets are going to be contenders next season? harden and paul are not going to beat the spurs or the warriors, so it's either lose in the second or the third round, same boat as us.

No amount of money would make PJ happy to play for DC and with DD for the next 3 years.
Everybody is losing their freaking minds. Nutbars and wingnuts have infested this forum. We've become a public lavatory without cleaning staff.

and d'antoni and harden are upgrades? pj tucker plays D thats what he's known for. d'antoni is an offencive coach and harden plays less d than derozan. scoring wise sure it's an upgrade but defensively down grade. i bet he plays less minutes in houston. d'antoni system = you can't score you ain't on the floor.

Great....

That's less than I thought he'd get. Guess it's about being part of a powerhouse.

Screw the Rockets. This is getting ridiculous.

We need to go young or make a big trade. Bringing back Lowry and Ibaka will make no difference. I had hoped using Tucker all year would have been a big influence on things at least.

Taking less? Does not look good on this franchise. We're too DeSoft for his liking...plus he probably didn't like the Casey headgame thing.

dude harden is a worse defender than derozan. For all we know the real reason why he left is weather related or to be closer to his family. Dude lives in hot a.. PHX. His mom lives there, his wife lives there and his kids are there. Maybe he wants to be closer to his family or maybe dude doesn't like the cold. His decision might not even have anything to do with the raptors as a team. After all he knew demar and lowry off the court before coming here as well. Raptor fans like to act as if everybody wants to be here, everybody wants to be in toronto. The guy lives in one of the hottest places in the US and he came to one of the oldest city's in the NBA. Maybe the guy just doesn't like the cold weather. It's just over 2 hours from houston to his family in PHX while it's close to 5 from Toronto to PHX.

A quick use of online tax calculators:

Texas 8.4mil gross: 4.9mil take home
Ontario 11mil gross: 5.1mil take home

Obviously accounting firms and financial advisors would help get those down, but you get the picture. He really didn't give up that much net earnings to go play for HOU.

Edit: Non-residence tax rule, it calculates out close to 5.58 take home for the 11mil.
