If this means we aren't resigning Bojan then this deal is just fine by me.

Ernie loves these undersized gunners who are built like fire hydrants... Neal, Thornton and now Meeks. Meeks is the best of the bunch but it ain't saying much. At least 3.5 mil for 2 years isn't a significant commitment.

Can he stay healthy? It seems like he's been more injured than not the last few seasons.

I was thinking the same thing. Good but is he healed from the foot injury/surgery?

"Meeks has seen his last two seasons derailed by injuries, having appeared in just 39 total games for the Pistons and Magic since the start of the 2015/16 campaign. However, he was an effective outside threat for Orlando when he suited up last year, averaging 9.1 PPG on 40.9% three-point shooting."

Hope he's able to play.

Why do people want to lose Bojan? Do we forget what the bench was like without him? He's bad defensively, but if you can't hide one bad defensive wing on your bench then wtf? The guy shot 46/39/93 for us and letting him walk only helps Teds pockets.

Yeah, I'd be fine with letting Bojan go. I assume Meeks is a better defender at the 2 than Bojan was. He's a better shooter than Bogdanovic, too. So, he's fine value for the money.

But we still need a dynamic playmaker to create opportunities for the second unit -- and I'm not convinced that Frazier or Sato are it. Can we find a playmaking or shot-creating PF to anchor the second unit? That's certainly a taller order than finding a combo guard. Obviously, the nutty S&T Bojan+Gortat/Ian for Millsap deal being discussed in another thread would get it done, but I don't see why ATL would be interested in that. A moonshot for Melo that pushed Morris to the 2nd unit would do the trick. Either move would certainly placate Wall.

That said, Illy (the little red-haired girl to EG's Charlie Brown), David Lee, and Derrick Williams are far more realistic options.

Bojan is going to make more than $3.5M/year, and plays the same position as Oubre. He was a poor fit from the start, and that's even with his above-career average stretch of shooting last year.

Lets not act as though Oubre isn't perfectly fine playing the two or three. Fit is not an excuse here. This is about being cheap.

Guys. This is a great move.

I was hoping for 2/10. If he is healthy than that's a steal. JJ Redick-lite

I don't mind taking a shot on Meeks, but if its a "well there's our Bojan replacement!" move then I hate it

He required a second surgical procedure on his right foot then later a thumb injury on his shooting hand needed surgery. Two seasons ago he played in 3 games due to foot & back injury.

Bloodly hell. What's with the obsession with oft injured, fragile players?! How many games will this f*cker miss? Gawd!!

Hello Martell! Meeks has had foot, back, and a thumb injuries, aren't you guys tired of hoping that a player with an injury history is healthy-enough to be a useful player for us? This is bad news for Mac, I was also hoping we would be taking a serious look at microwave player Marcus Keene. Ernie is a chickenshi*t who is afraid to entrust a rookie who isn't a lottery pick.

Cheap pickup. If he gets hurt, then Mac or Sato have to step up Fits well with Wall. But I'd rather have a meh off-season than one where we just threw $$$ away on mediocre backups

Also, if he wasn't injury-prone, you wouldn't get him for such a cheap price

Poll question: what is the +\- on Meeks and Mahinmi playing a combined 41 games next season?

Oubre can defend SGs, but he's *not* a 2 on offense. He's not a good enough shooter, ball handler, or decision-maker.

I just wanted to ask the same question. Mahinmi case didn't learned them nothing at all.
Meeks could be a valuable bench guy in reasonable contract but he is always injuried!!! That is why he is cheap!

That terrible offseason with idiotic trades was year ago. EG has hand tied now.
It means NO
