Re: ATL - PG13 to Thunder
It's not as simple as all that. Getting to 45-50 years and losing in the playoffs is fine if you're doing it with youth because they show the promise of reaching higher heights in the future. But doubling down on talent that has shown problems not only getting out of the conference but also has shown serious issues closing out *anybody,* is questionable.

If LBJ gets hurt they have a shot at the Finals. It's only a 3 year deal and in year 3 it's expiring, honestly don't think its that bad.

That treadmill must be very sweet financially for the team.

What a D-bag. how about keeping ticket prices reasonable? These salaries are insane. These guys would be jumping for joy to make a million a year, where else are you going to do that in the real world?
This is a new one. Plenty of people like to rag on "GM LeBron" but apparently LeBron is also in charge of ticket prices league wide. Is there anything the guy doesn't do?
The point is that as salaries go up, so do ticket prices...which makes it harder for the average fan to attend games. It's sad when I watch bucks away games to see so many empty lower level seats.
Curry at $200M is a steal. He is worth far more than that. The rising contracts aren't causing ticket prices to skyrocket. Player salaries are being driven largely by television rights fees.
Ticket prices are simply driven by demand for tickets. Last season was the third straight season the NBA set a new regular season attendance record (94% of tickets sold). Ticket prices will continue to increase as long as owners can fill their arenas.

Maybe "tread-milling" isn't just defined by some arbitrary number of regular season wins? I mean, yeah, if you're a middling team that actually has young talent that can improve, that tends to be better than having a group of 29-32 year old guys who've maxed out as a conference semi-finals contender. That's kinda how the whole "potential" thing works.

We have a shot at the finals if LBJ goes down. There's 4 teams you could easily say that about; Wizards, Celtics, Raptors, Bucks
Right?

The Bucks are not in that conversation at all.

Every team in the East that makes the playoffs would have a chance if LBJ went down.

We don't know that. The internal development potential on our roster is greater than those other three teams and I don't think it's really that close. Not saying those teams can't improve, but our room for improvement over one summer is just massive.

The Lowry signing was great for Toronto. It's only three years and now they're poised to make a run. They won't be favorites but you don't have to be the favorite to make it worth going for it. The team won 56 games two years ago. Last season they won 51 games and their best player missed 22 games. Plenty of teams throughout history have won the Finals at the level Toronto is. It would've been foolish to blow it up.

Re: ATL - PG13 to Thunder
The Raps are a byproduct of the weak East IMO as are the Wizards and Celtics. Maybe they are an LBJ injury away from the Finals but if you've got any of the Warriors, Spurs or Rockets waiting on the other end then I don't like their chances (and I wouldn't entirely discount a Cavs team minus LeBron being out of the picture).
They've had a good run the last four years but I think they've taken the soft option in bringing back a team that is just OK. You may as well pencil them in for 50 wins for the next two years and at best a second round playoff showing. Some people are fine with that, personally I wonder what the point is? What are they trying to accomplish?

So we can push 1 of those teams to the limit in the playoffs 2 months ago but we aren't in the conversation to be on their level the following season? That honestly makes no sense at all. Especially considering we are a young up and coming team getting better and those 3 teams are essentially already what we think/know they are.. the Bucks are 100% in that conversation and you don't have to be a Bucks homer fan to agree with that. ESPN who never shows the Bucks any semblance of love has them as the 3rd highest odds to win the east next year behind only Cleveland and Boston.

Granted my NBA history dates back to the early 90s but I can't think of a team like Toronto is now that won a Championship.
The only parallels I can see is the '04 Pistons and '11 Mavs. I think both those teams are a long way ahead of the Raps and I can't see them getting close to that level.

Mid-90's Houston is another one. I don't see how those teams are far better than Toronto. Knicks made the FInals in 1999 as an 8 seed (Ewing didn't play in the FInals). Raps were in the ECF two seasons ago. Last season, they finished two games out of being the #1 seed even though their three best players played an average of 57 games. The team is better than they performed last season and they would be one of the favorites to win the East if LeBron suffers an injury.

Re: ATL - PG13 to Thunder
Wtf lol. Are we seriously comparing these Raps to the '04 Pistons, Dirk's Mavs and Hakeem's Rockets?
The Raps made the ECF by default, they were a bad Frank Vogel decision from losing in the first round, where they got swept in the year prior, and lost the year before that too. And if Middleton wasn't a walking corpse they lose this year again. Comparing these frauds to actual title teams is just hilarious.

Gonna have to agree to disagree on this one ElPeregrino. I don't think the Raps are close to the '04 Mavs, '11 Mavs or Hakeem's Rockets. I think a more apt comparison are the New Jersey Nets teams of the 2000s (and for the record I think this Nets teams was more talented but it's not a big stretch) or the Joe Johnson/Horford Hawks circa 2010.

Watched former Bucks draftee Jerome Jordan in the Drew League today. He's still got it. Also, rapper "The Game" is an intimidating physical presence without any skill to speak of.
