Teixeira: we are frontrunners, what do we give up?

According to mlb.com, see above, we are the frontrunners for Teixeira. So, what could we give up?

Young pitcher(s)- this is a given. I would part with our #3 prospect, Michael Bowden, in a deal for Teixeira.

young positional players- Texas has a lineup full of retreads like Byrd, hairston and Sosa. they need an influx of young talent. Therefore, I suggest Brandon Moss, Aaron Bates and Wily Mo need to be part of this deal. Moss could step in right away in RF, Pena can be the everyday DH and get the chance he deserves. The guy is still only 25 years old. Bates gives the Rangers a slugging 1B prospect to groom to replace Teixeira.

Moss, bowden, Pena and Bates for Teixeira seems a bit steep, so perhaps texas throws in a lower level prospect or a reliever for the stretch run.

What do we think?

Boston is going to have to give up a lot more than the package you just offered. Most likely its going to revolve around Lester/Ellsbury, or something simlar. I'm sure Texas would like to get their hands on Buckhholz, but not sure if Theo is going to give him up.

I'll pass on Tex. We would have to give up either Youk or Lowell, plus good prospects. I'd rather not go that route.

Nothing. Sign him as a FA if you want, but don't give anything up for him.

Would he even sign a contract extension with Boston? I think he was pretty turned off by the organization when they drafted him before.

If Ortiz does go on the DL, Texiera would be ideal, b/c he could take over as the DH/Firstbasemen while Ortiz is on the DL. Once Ortiz gets back though, there could be some problems finding playing time for all these guys. The trade would be good for next year too, because Tex plays first, Youk moves back to third, and Lowell goes( :() I wouldn't give up Bucholtz for Tex, maybe Bowden and Ellsbury.

Come on future...you should realize that your name represents Jacoby Ellsbury...don't ever think about giving him up.

Mark Texiera is only 27, so we are giving up a young guy for a semi young proven all star player. I would do that. I wouldn't give up the best arm in our system, Bucholtz for him, but Texas is gonna be asking for one of the two. So we keep Crisp for the long haul, whats wrong with that?

The "Why the hell did we give him up?" ten years down the road.

If your getting Mark Texiera and can keep him locked up for a long time then its worth it. With Crisp out there, Ellsbury wouldn't be needed as much, although we would need another OF when Manny leaves

They want Clay Buchholz, Jacoby, and Lester.

If anyone wants this...please please...quit being a Sox fan.

Youk can play third...that's why people want this...but at that price...screw that.

That's who I'd like to see us give up...

Lowell's contract is up at the end of the year anyways though.

I'd rather take a sharp rock to the left nut.
