Nick Young

Post#1 » by Dloading99 » Sun Jul 2, 2017 3:07 am

Did he misplay the Market? should he have opted in. Listening to Brian Windhorst looks like nobody wants to spend money this year. Milsap and Lowry can't even get deals. Reddick went for 1 year 23 million.

What's the market for Swaggy P.

and do we look to bring him back at a team friendly deal 1 yr. 10 million. 1 yr. 15 million team option next year.

He might still be available to us and looking around he might just decide he wants to stay in L.A.

Lakers should move on from Nick Young. They'd be better off kicking the tires on Ben McLemore.

I like Mclemore to. he's my first pick. but Young knows the system. probably has played pick up with Lonzo. and is a good shooter with Lonzo I'd like to see what Swaggy can be. I just think he's going to be available for cheap nice one year pickup.

Swaggy's gotta be like to his agent though why did you tell me to opt out? that 20 million is looking real good right now especially when you saw what JJ got.

Pelicans are going to pay him more than we could/should. it is a good decision.

He'll get an MLE. Gordon Hayward is the domino stalling the market now so once that gets resolved a lot of the smaller players will find their homes.

The irony is that Nick Young was almost dealt last year to New Orleans there was a rumor it was Quincy Alexander and 2 rounders, but we said no I think.

If we can't get Ben McLemore then maybe Young???

I like to try Ben before we take a shot at Swaggy P.

GS and New Orleans. I guess we'll find out if it's $ or a shot at a chip with him.

I don't want him back. He gives us nothing long term just a few hot streaks in what's shaping up to be another really disappointing season. I'd rather lose 55-60 with the kids.

Nick Young was the proximate cause of us losing our best player. I don't give a **** what happens to him.

If we could get Afflalo I'd be very happy. He's been one of my favorite players for a long time. Work ethic, defense, effort and attitude are all what a young team needs. More Nick Young isn't

Totally agree....I think that would be great. The guy plays defense, and can hit from the 3 (38% career). You might see his ppg go up a bit too under Luke's system....and if Ball is half of what he's been advertised.

I think too much attention to defense is overrated.....but you gotta have SOMETHING. We've been wretched for about 4-5 years. We just dumped one of our lead offenders...and I think it's time we moved on from another. We lost some good shooting this season (DLO, Young, Lou-W)...but we also lost 3 of our most lazy defensive players. We have alot of young guys...and I think bringing in some defense, and spending a year REALLY coming down on lazy defense would prob be a good idea. Byron and Luke both speak a good game, when it comes to defense....but in reality, they have been the same or even worse than D'antoni....the guy the world piles on about it (hey Magic....pointing at you! Didn't have much to say about your boy Byron, did you??)

This team needs to learn to be 'decent' at defense if it wants to go anywhere. Effort. Effort...some attention to detail, and your 90% there. Some drilling, and acountability, and that's about rounds it out. Thibbs can run circles being "mr defense"...that's fine. We just need to get back around #7-8, and I think that's good enough.

Afflolo will be 32 at start of season. Little old....but not bad for a SG. No future.....which is just what we need, right? Get him in here, he doesn't need a ton of shots, but does make em when he takes em. Plays defense, and can spread the floor. I think he'd be really good as a 1-year deal. I think he might work our REALLY well....and could stick around for 3-4 years and be a solid bench guy.

He's the 'anti-swaggy' and I think thats just what this young squad needs right now.

Young needs to go to GS...Cleveland....somewhere where he can come in for 10 minutes and drop 8 points while REAL talent rests, and then go sit down. He's perfect for that role.

You don't have to convince me. I've always thought he's been one of the more underrated role players around.

You put he and Brewer on the floor together and you can defend the wings for once. As you said, he can get you 12 to 14 a game with some 3's.

That said, I'd say that a contender would make a play for him. I could see him taking less for a shot too.

I'd certainly want to see Nick at GSW, too.

But I'm glad he is not coming back here. He's got to start fresh somewhere great.

Swaggy is the west coast version of JR Smith... On a young bad team they're poison, but on a championship veteran team they could be the X factor in some games...

We have no use for him...
