One man can dream right.

If we are going to dream then let's dream of the thunder beating Durant and then winning a championship.

they really don't know what they are talking about. fred katz just tweeted something about whether or not the thunder could 'convince' rudy gay to take the mle or less. this is hours after woj expressed the difficulty the thunder had arranging a sign and trade with the kings. so which one is it?

i put zero stock into katz or royce or any of them reporting on meetings or who or what the thunder are interested in / their motivations.

They don't have anyone inside the org. The Thunder are tight lipped. I doubt they s&t because of the hard cap in this crucial year. Gay is either at the MLE or bust. It's impressive he took the meeting. We shall see what the market does for him. But, I would think this is his most ideal basketball situation.

He has made $115 million over his career and he is 30 so this is probably his last contract unless he signs a one year deal to stay on the same timeline as Westbrook and George.

He would have to come in at the midlevel. Plus Chicago can match. I doubt they would let him walk on the midlevel.

Hot damn. So I guess the Bucks are gonna dump Middleton to sign Rose?

Is this guy a legit source?

Don't think so. No reason for them to dump Middleton.

I think they SHOULD try to get Middleton. But they won't.

imo it just seems like someone saw taj gibson $14mm and looked a list of salaries and saw middleton at $14.1mm making this a perfect fit. there is a great challenge getting a tpe for taj anyway, since the agreement he had with minnesota would need to be modified in a way that is bad for him (adding a third non-guaranteed year).

One consequence of the slower FA market and there being less money is that there's more chance we can get a good player for less than we thought.

Also depresses Roberson's market.

Middleton is probably like the second most untouchable player on their list. They have just as much of an issue with spacing as us. There is no chance they'd throw him away just to sign Rose.

Right. But the reality is that we don't have cap space or assets, so we are not in a better situation than before the trade, at least short term. For the future we are in a way better situation that's for sure (more flexibility).

The only good aspect of the Paul George trade for the short term is that it could attract some free agents to play with us, but most of them wants $$$

not watching today, but people were too hard on him after last game. His shots didn't go down, but his release looked good/smooth/quick. I'm not convinced he doesn't get a shot this year.

If you take only the second half of last season into account, you are right. Otherwise, you are insane. He's top 10 in every NBA rankings from last year.

Would love to hear names of 14 to 19 Centers that are better than him.

Jokic
Cousins
Gobert
Jordan
Zeller
Turner
Gasol
Gasol
Whiteside
Horford
Towns
Embiid

Then there's a grouping of guys that are arguable
Pachulia
Lopez
Dedman
Monroe
Drummond
Chandler
Howard
Nurkic
Noel

Plus a couple of guys listed at pf that should be centers
Porzingis
Dieng

I wouldn't take all of those guys over him, but he hasn't separated himself clearly from any of them.

Zeller, Pau Gasol, Turner over Adams? Seriously?

Saying Zaza or Monroe are ARGUABLY better than Adams is a really good joke :)

I don't feel like getting into a prolonged debate about it, so suffice it to say they all put up comparable or significantly better numbers and had higher rpm's. If he isn't producing stats or impact then where's his value?

EDIT: Interesting thing about this—think Thunder/Blue/SL team share a lot of the same playbook, and that looks like a set play. Wonder if they're working on some sets where the center passes from the top of the key.

I agree. I thought people overreacted to the trade a bit. One year of George and not a single decent power forward to be had all while we still have players like Semaj, Kyle Huestis, Doug, and Kanter soaking up salary. I don't think we end up THAT much better. And in a year we may be tanking.

Players will always become available, they can fill up the 4 spot or go small. Small ball has proved to be successful already.

Rooting for a PG-SF-SF-SF-C line-up with Robs and Gay. Would match pretty well against teams like the Warriors and Rockets.
