Is Patrick Patterson impact undervalued here?

Post#1 » by RaptorsLife » Mon Jul 3, 2017 11:39 pm

When Patrick Patterson played well. I feel like we were a different on both ends.

Him hitting shots and playing defense. Guarding the best big on the floor

Last year he missed 16 games in those 16 games we were 8-8

I know he bricks open shots but he still spaces floor and gives our wings room to drive in the paint

I'm not sure we have anyone on those roster who can replace him

Operative word being "when he played well". Too many instances of him completely disappearing.

His advanced stats were only so good because we didn't have another half decent 4 on the roster.

He was good at PnR defence and pretty much nothing else. Way too many 0 point games from him.

I think he's defense gets undervalued the most. He's actually one of the more higher IQ players on the team. He's one of the few who tries to move the ball quickly instead of holding on to it.

He's just extremely inconsistent when it comes to hitting shots. That's basically what it comes down to for PPatt. He bricks almost every open shot

Yes he was rock solid. He's the perfect back-up four.

PPat is like TRoss, he has his moments here and there but when the pressure is on he turns into a scrub.

His knee injury this past year would scare me.

Knees just don't inflame like that for no reason.

I'm surprised his name's not coming up much around the league. I thought he'd be a perfect fit in Minnesota, who should be desperate for shooting but instead opted for Gibson.

Overvalued? Yes. Undervalued? No.

He's a scrub that likes movies over basketball too much.

In particular he bricks important shots.

He tends to hit shots at meaningless times to keep his percentages up, but when you really need a make to stop a run or to put a team away in the 4th, he seems to miss consistently.

His D is still solid. If he's cheap, I don't mind keeping him.

I'd rather have had Tucker than Pat, but if Pat will take $24MM/3 years, I'd be okay w bringing him back.

I haven't seen a single report about him so far. That tells you a lot.

If we can move JV and Pat is willing to play for a reasonable deal, I'd be open to bring him back. His game, when it's on, helps us tremendously on both offense and defense.

Definitely not underrated- he had no confidence in his shot in the post season. He looked to get rid of the rock every time he touched it. When he did shoot he was laying bricks. I'd rather him walk and lay those bricks elsewhere. He's had some nice games but the man is so inconsistent.

One of the few guys in the league that can shut down Lebron. He will be missed in the EC finals this year.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.
