After the break, the Nets changed to the starting lineup of: Lin, Foye, LeVert, RHJ and Brook. This line up had a positive NetRtg of 3.8 and the Nets went 10-12. But, it was more than just the starting line up, the bench also improved from the first half of the season.
New players added: Dinwiddie, Acy, Kj, Goodwin, Nicholson.
Old players removed: Scola, Bennett, Bogs, Vasquez, CMC .
22 games is a small sample, but I'm sure that the after the break team with the new starting line up and improved bench was at least around a 30 win team.
The 3 remaining starters on the team of Lin, LeVert and RHJ when playing together led the team with a NetRtg of +6.3 when playing together. But, this year barring injuries both Lin and LeVert should increase their avg. mins played from around 25 to 30 mins per game.
The question mark becomes Brook/Foye > or < Mozgove/DLo. And by how much, since the bench is basically the same.
Also, how much will the young guys improve?
As it stands the only way the Nets make the playoffs is if there is noticeable improvements from 5 or 6 of the young guys.
i get your line of thinking an logically it makes sense... but historically it doesnt quite work that way. especially when you have new faces.
for example:
we added pierce/KG/terry in place of Wallace/Evans/Stackhouse and got worse. that year.
we have a really young team and a coach who is going to make moves that cost us games to help develop young guys. jarrett allen is REALLY far away as far as NBA readyness. how much does he play and how much does that hurt us?
we also played better once bogdanovic was traded. did moving his poor defense help us win? how does it work with russell in?
overall we lack talent. have young guys, and winning isnt the top priority.
i think we are competitive every night, but the win arent there
Jarrett Allen is a big question mark. How far away is he from NBA readiness. At worst he will get the CMC treatment, where he will spend most of his time in the G league. But, I think he is closer than that. I wish he could play in the summer league.
I think Bogs was just part of the problem. Sometimes the starting lineup had him, Skil and Brook in it. The pieces didn't fit for most of the season. I remember some of those games were like lay up drills for the opposing teams.
I think Russell fits in great. He can create his own shot and create for others. The Nets needed a second guard who could do that consistently last year. And so did the Lakers. I think it will help both Lin and Russel playing together. Russell's D isn't that bad, and playing with Lin, LeVert and RHJ will help lessen his struggles on that end.
Yeah, overall the Nets do lack talent. But, I feel the whole is better than the pieces. Last year, the talent level was similar from beginning of the year to the end of the year. But, the pieces fit better by the end of the year.
This year there is also better continuity than last year. Only 3 new players as opposed to around 10 last year.
I think we will be competitive every night and win more than people think. Around 30 games. But, I've always been on the optimistic side.

I think how much Allen contributes really depends on his drive. (health of course, plz) If he's seriously driven both on and off the court, there's a chance.
Hustle, D, rebounds, those are the easiest things to translate

That was huge.
I think the plan was to have him come off the bench. Then injuries to Foye, Lin, Vasquez happened,

EDIT: for the winning percentage with Lin, don't forget that he was playing with minutes restrictions and wasn't 100% even later.

Re: Playoff Chances
Buoyed by an 11-13 finish after the All-Star break, the Nets are hoping a solid summer-league performance with several of the same key players will carry over into the regular season.
“We think we can be a contender next year for sure,’’ LeVert said. “Last year, we played really well after the All-Star break. We’re going to try to carry on where we left off going into this year.”

LVJ super confident.

We would need him to play like LBJ then.

Lin (30) / Dinwiddie (10) / Whitehead (8)
Russell (30) / Skil (18)
Levert (30) / RHJ (12) / Harris (6)
Carroll (24) / RHJ (12) / Booker (12)
Mozgov (24) / Allen (14) / Player X (10)
This is tough. I don't know who takes the extra C minutes. Nicholson?
And what about Booker and Acy?
