Post#1 » by Mr. E » Tue Jul 4, 2017 2:30 am

5 Astros...count 'em, 5 Astros were voted in by the fans for this year's All-Star Game!!!

Jose Altuve
Carlos Correa
George Springer
Dallas (only good Dallas in Texas) Keuchel
Lance McCullers

And there could have been a few others!

This has been a very fun team to watch. Go Astros!!!

Very cool to see all those guys get voted in, and to have three of them starting is even sweeter.

YuuuuuuuuuuuugeiƱa* congrats to both Correa and Springer for their first appearances!

*mix of Trump speak and my new found appreciation for Yuli 'PiƱa' Gurriel for being pretty good. Roughly translated it means ".... YEAH THAT WIDE!"

Speaking of the Good Dallas, here he is...speaking:

Nice! Devo got in, as he deserves!

http://m.astros.mlb.com/news/article/240997600/astros-chris-devenski-named-al-all-star/

The Astros, who entered Friday with the best record in the Major Leagues at 58-28, now have a franchise-record six All-Stars headed to Miami.

Reliever Chris Devenski was one of seven All-Star replacements announced by Major League Baseball on Friday, giving the Astros six players headed to the MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard, set for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. CT on FOX at Marlins Park.

...

Since Devenski debuted in 2016, he's been among the league's most dominant pitchers, ranking second in the Majors in ERA (2.14) and WHIP (0.87), behind only Clayton Kershaw (1.92 ERA, 0.80 WHIP).

"I think he's pitched in as many roles as imaginable," Hinch said of his dependable reliever. "I think people confuse the middle of the game with middle relief. That's not the case. He's pitching in as high-leverage situations as anyone in the league."

Devenski entered Friday leading all big league relievers with 72 strikeouts and 51 2/3 innings, and he was tied for the most wins by a reliever with six. He's still pulling together plans for the All-Star break, but he hopes to bring his parents, sister, a close friend and offseason pitching coach Dominic Johnson to Miami.
