Free-Throw Line Item
TucsonClip wrote:The very underrated aspect of Gallo's game, which I love the most, is his ability to get to the free throw line.
His career FTr is .454, which is higher than a guy like DeRozan whom lives at the line. Looking even closer this last two years his FTr was at .617 and .516. Considering his usage sits at 20-23%, thats great value and efficiency. So while some might not be impressed with his eFG%, his TS% definitely makes up the difference.
I like wings who can get to the line and hit from deep. Thats what he brings, and something we need.

does he know something we don't and Luc is coming back with a new contract? or he is an idiot who still thinks we have him under contract?
I'm pretty sure Simmons didn't put nearly as much thought into our new projected lineup as you, Neddy. At this point, I don't see Mbah a Moute coming back unless another move is made. He could very well be out of our price range given that we're close to being hard-capped.

Interesting Tidbits
I actually thought Gallinari would wait until at least tomorrow after Hayward's anticipated decision. I figured the Celtics would also pursue Gay if Hayward passed on them but Wojnarowski is reporting that they also offered Gallinari the opportunity join them if Hayward didn't. I'm actually curious why they wouldn't go after both at the same time since they fit together as a pairing in a starting lineup. Maybe the presence of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum has Ainge reluctant to add more than one vet wing player.
In fact, I proposed going after Hayward for the Clippers in a pipedream scenario a few days ago and he would be a great fit with Gallinari on this team. Obviously, that can't happen since we don't have any cap space unless Jerry West pulled a ninja move out of left field and pitched him in secret. Even then, Utah would have to agree to a S&T scenario and all we have left is DeAndre Jordan, Patrick Beverly, and no first-round picks to offer in the near term while the Jazz already have Rudy Gobert. Also, Hayward is reportedly leaning toward returning to Utah. Translation: It's not happening. While I'm daydreaming, I'd love to pull off a deal for Rubio and Hayward somehow to go along with Griffin and Gallinari...but I digress.
In any case, I noticed Lucas Hann mention that he was told that the Clippers are trying to work on having some level of non-guarantee on Gallinari's 3rd and final year of his contract while no one else is reporting that yet. Before I proceed, I want to point out that he and Justin Russo had a falling out at ClipsNation.com. Russo was the one who broke the news of Gillian Zucker outsourcing the Clippers' quick logo redesign to the Miami Heat's design staff at that Web site. Russo has since left the site to provide informative as well as annoying tweets while Hann is now editor-in-chief for the aforementioned site. I get the sense that Hann resented Russo's credibility after that story and wants to prove himself even with overzealous attempts at news-making, although he himself has also shown himself to be informative at times albeit usually by piggybacking off of other people's reporting and information.
Having said that, I actually see the Clippers targeting Klay Thompson in 2019, but again, he seems like a fit with Gallinari instead of just his replacement. We know West is a fan of Klay and has advocated for him in the past. In light of our history of being caught flat-footed and making bad deals during Doc's tenure, it can't be a coincidence that we were able to turn Chris Paul's departure into assets that were ready to be used in a proposed sign-and-trade deal for Gallinari. One has to think the Logo is already looking ahead and laying the groundwork for a free-agent acquisition in the near future. Klay makes as much sense as anyone.

The Clippers sold Gallinari, 28, on a frontcourt that includes him and All-Stars Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. Gallinari could've waited until Gordon Hayward made his decision, expected on Wednesday, and had the opportunity to sign with the Boston Celtics if Hayward passed on them. Nevertheless, Gallinari passed and moved in the past 24 hours toward a deal with the Clippers.

I agree that Allen is so limited offensively and is getting up in age. He might not be the best option.
One guy I'm somewhat intrigued by is afflalo. He used to be a very solid two way player. I don't understand why he has played poorly over the last couple of seasons. I wonder if returning home to LA would bring out the best in him

I actually am intrigued by the idea of another 3 way sign and trade to get us Rudy Gay and have a super tall lineup (I think Gay is athletic enough to play the 2).
Gay (S&T 3yrs/45mil) to LAC
Rivers/Harrell to BRK
2020 Second from CLE via LAC to SAC

Jamal Wants to Take Ball to LAL
Veteran guard Jamal Crawford's preference would be to join rookie Lonzo Ball in the backcourt with the Lakers if he can get bought out of his contract, a source told The Undefeated. With his family based in Los Angeles and a solid relationship already in place with Ball, the current Los Angeles Clippers guard would like to sign as a free agent with the Lakers if he were bought out of his contract by the Atlanta Hawks after an expected multi-team trade that is expected to send Danilo Gallinari to the Clippers. The Lakers have strong interest in signing Crawford as well, a source said, and have the money to offer a respectable contract. Crawford could possibly start at shooting guard for the Lakers and be a big help as a mentor and shot maker for the assist creating Ball.

Word is Celts are calling around for someone to absorb Smarts contract. Think he'd be a good get?

it better be for a minimum and he comes off the bench... he shot something like 20% from the 3 last year. there is no way he can spread the floor for us. if we are giving him a MLE to start, then Doc better move Patrick to SG and keep his son's ass on the bench.
I really don't like the fit. he is another ball dominant PG who can't shoot and doesn't pass willingly, and don't remember him playing defense since coming back from his injury.
ehhhhh f it.

hard to say. he is another PG who can't shoot to spread the floor. I did agree on DJ going to celts for Crowder/Bradley/Smart but Smart alone isn't enticing in any capacity for me. Beverly and Evans are my preference. knowing Doc, Austin will play both PG/SG minutes this upcoming season, there aren't enough minutes to go around at 1.
ehhhhh f it.
