Not sure if this was discussed yet on our forum. Hadn't seen it before.

Yeah. They say Lee has 3 years left. Unlikely sixers touch that when they are trying to conserve cap space for next summer.

Maybe the third year is a team option? 2 years of Lee is not a bad deal.

No obvious fit in my opinion unless they think can can recruit a star like LBJ, PG, or Westbrook.

Derek wrote about it today, but I haven't had the time to pay my $3 and subscribe. I may have to so I can read the article. Lol

I do not want to commit to three years of a roster spot and salary to Courtney Lee. He's a good player and all, but no thanks. I'd rather have a pick several years down the line.

Lot of bigs I think. Demarcus, Aldridge, deandre, Jabari.

Some oldies like Carmelo and Paul.

Role guys Green, Beverly, Bradley.

I saw many people on this forum say that he lost weight last summer based on weird myspace angle photos only for Okafor to say that he actually gained weight.

The unfortunate part of People forgetting how bad Okafor is after he goes months without playing is that eventually he has to play again.

Wasn't saying we should go after Courtney Lee. Far from.

But I don't see an interesting FA in 2018 that will fit our team and is worth throwing big bucks at.

Maybe Bradley indeed.

Paul George has already made his choice. Cousins only if Embiid isn't healthy.

Avery Bradley makes sense, to me at least.

yeah, i think the Knicks' interest faded significantly with Phil taking his triangle home with him.
a healthy OK4 (if that's possible) still fits Danny's old school tendencies, and his current roster.
despite the Liberty Ballers enthusiasm, the sign and trade rumor more likely originated with him.

if i had to guess now - we're most likely keeping jah at least for the start of the season. maybe if a big on another team becomes injured and jah looks healthy - talks will heat up again. but for now our roster is too full to just trade him for peanuts and basically pick up another 3rd center who won't play much anyway... the only spot that is weak in depth for us is SF but i would imagine TLC/korkmaz can see minutes there since SG is deep (with markelle playing off ball as well)

most importantly he's been popping up in videos at the complex with his teammates so it doesn't seem like he's a distraction at all - if he's not.. then i'm cool with him being here for the time being.

Okafor has a strong NBA skill. It is an important one, particularly for a team like the 76ers who have lacked, at least in the last few years, offensive firepower. So the question for Brown is how you get him in the game, let him score some points with some reserves, and minimize his defensive and sometimes rebounding liabilities. When he leaves the game, he needs to be an + or at least and =.

Holmes can give you what he does well in reseve minutes, if that is what is needed at the time. All on Brown.

He would still only be a senior in college. Obviously he is not instinctive defensively, but I think he can rebound adequetely with team or self motivation. I don't know what combinations will work, if any. It's worth finding out in my opinion. If you put him in and he gets 8 points in 8 minutes, that is a blow to the opposition, who do not have a center like that.

You don't need to give him away. Not yet, anyway.

The problem at this point is you have to make a decision on his option. Declining it could allow you to potentially bring in a max guy and still have enough room to bring Redick back on a smaller multiyear deal. Keeping him could very well cost you Redick. Is that worth hoping he figures it out and, what, becomes Joel Embiid's backup?

And if you are declining his option, what is he really doing here?

Sixerscan-When does this "option" come in to play? June 30, 2018 or sooner? I'm just concerned you stop digging in your buried treasure site because someone gave to a treasure map thay got out of a gumball machine that says dig next year a long way away.

They have to decide on his option for 2018-19 by October 31, 2017.

So if they don't pick up his option by October 31st 2017, he is a free agent June 1st 2018. Correct? Any other players in that category at this time? What offer would be the lowest he would accept in your opinion? How badly would that hurt their negotiations for newer players?

He would be a free agent on July 1 2018.

If you don't decline his option then that's $6.3 million you cannot spend. Hard to say how much that would impact things without knowing the other moving parts. Could be a situation where you have $7 million free where $13 million could have kept Redick around or you could have gotten some other player ect.

The point is the time is coming to make a decision on what he means to your team long term. Is limiting your cap space next summer worth giving another year to a guy that has been a disaster and doesnt even project as a starter on your team if things work out? Especially given that you have another cheap backup on the team, another center in Europe you just spent a 1st rounder on ect ect ect.

Thanks for the expertise. It is a perplexing situation. By todays standards $6.3 mil is paltry. But if you can't make Okafor a plus player on your roster, what is the sense?. Last year he was about the 5th best center (counting Noel and Long). But the year before he showed some skills that very few centers have. If Oct. 31st is the deadline, they don't have trial and error time.

Holmes improvement caught a lot of people by surprise. In my area of expertise, it did not surprise me after I saw him for a while. Big Latvia, or whatever name they will give him, I know nothing about. One summer league game is no sample size, but Bolden looked athetic and skilled.

Do you see where I am coming from if Okafor is a point per minute reserve? Other teams have valuable guys like that, not usually centers.

I might risk the $ 6.3 million, also called NBA petty cash these days. Strong arguments can be made either way. But if he has another "disaster" year, let him go for whatever.
