Is it not defamation for these reporters to accuse Riley of being the leak? I mean something like this could hurt the team getting future free agents because of trust issues.

It doesn't matter. No one has officially signed and can't until the moratorium is over. Deals can be in place just not announced because numbers can change based on what happens with Hayward.

Remember last year, a lot of guys signed on rapid succession that we didn't know they were talking to.

Miami being informed that they are no longer in the running doesn't mean they were informed what Hayward's decision was going to be.

If Hayward and his agent ruled us out last night, it's best they cut the bs and let us know. I'm guessing this confusion is stemming from their lack of control over the situation.
