The NBA sucks. You basically have to start a countdown to losing your star player the second you draft them now.

Boston have to give up Smart or Crowder in terms of salary to get the space to sign Hayward. Crowder makes sense position-wise.

Maybe Utah can sign-and-trade for Crowder, seeing as they need an SF now, and they ain't getting Porter.

The Celtics are 1 player away from being serious contenders. That guy doesn't have to be 1st or 2nd All-NBA necessarily, but at least a little below that. I'm talking 3rd team/all-star level.

Ideally, they wouldn't have moved down in the draft. Fultz would be more appealing to concede a star for. They'd have Brown and picks as other pieces.

The Hayward article is sad. To me it's not even a matter of if anymore with giannis but when. All preventable too with halfway competent front office/owners. Change it to #OwnNothing

We got a special personality in Giannis, so I think if we lose him we only have ourselves, or our management, to blame.

I doubt he even gets them to a 6 game series with Cleveland. I guess I don't see the point of drafting a bunch of young forwards and signing Heyward. They are in a great position no doubt but I feel like they need to go all in now or play for the future. It seems like they are trying to do both.

I am jealous of how well managed and coached they are though. They truly put the Bucks to shame in that regard.

I don't think you realize how good Hayward is.

I agree that Hayward is a darn good basketball player.

I also understand what RubberSoul is getting at with development of Tatum and Brown. The talk since last season had been about the Celtics acquiring Hayward. Yet for 2 consecutive years, they draft SF. I understand taking the best player available, especially last year with Brown, but this year, after already adding Brown, having Crowder already and knowing you are going strong after Hayward, why draft yet another SF in Tatum? I think Tatum is a great looking prospect but it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Do you think Boston will now be willing to part with either Tatum or Brown? If so, What do you imagine it would take?

If Giannis ever were to leave, I would not blame him. That's for damn sure.

Yeah I'm pretty much already prepared for him to leave at the end of this contract.

Man, Ricky Rubio has been on some rollercoaster this past two weeks huh:
His lottery team gets a star. Time for the playoffs!
Rubio gets traded to a playoff team with a star. Still good!
Team loses its star. Oh.
Rubio is back on a lottery team...

OKC have a $4.9m trade exception that they could fit Smart into. That'd be good to see.

Hayward has had it made. Jerry Sloan to Quin Snyder to Brad Stevens.

I'd give anything for Snyder or Stevens.
