yeah i mean he isnt a super strong guy... but what back to the basket bigs in the east are you worried about?

Physicality is big part of the game not just defending back to basket players. It's also defending roll players or penetrators which he can't do. This is what I mean about soft.

agree to disagree. he is solid in the pick and roll. its one of the things i like about him. and he is tough inside. mixes it up all the time.

if they sign porter, and wanted to trade him later it would cost his new team 30 million

If Wiz are intending to keep him, Nets suffer most by Wiz playing the waiting game until the deadline, right?

not really. there is no left to sign other then more RFAs and no one else has cap left but utah.

And apparently Utah as well~

Sounded like the threat of a meeting with Utah was only used as leverage to get us to increase our offer. The news of our offer sheet agreement broke like 30 mins after it was said that Porter was on his way to Utah to meet with them

Olynk won't be there to take Brook's role. He costs half as much and is several years younger.

Olynk will be a glue guy. He can play either the 5 or the 4. So he can play with Allen, RHJ, Mozgov, Booker, or Acy (I'm not including Porter, because I think he will be matched). And he would be the only reliable stretch 4/5 that the Nets have (I like Acy a lot, but he has only done it for less than half a season).

Mentality only gets you so far. If we sign him, he'll get exposed because of how much our team lacks on experience and discipline on defense. I do however think he is a great offensive player. I think if he gets more touches here he'll produce a lot more in comparison to Boston. He is very good in the clutch

We did good business with them for Nicholson's contract. They should match quickly once the offer sheet is faxed.

Hopefully we can work out a sign and trade with them instead of letting them match and help ease the pain of him leaving.

Maybe something like Lin for him straight up.

Or RHJ for him straight up.

Also there's no sources saying he's signed the offer sheet yet just that they agreed to it, meaning that a s/t is still possible. I doubt Marks would close that door if it was a possible route to land Porter.

Cant see them taking on Lin. they have Wall and lin makes 13 million. putting them close to the tax anyhow.

id think it would need to be RHJ or Allen or someone on their rookie deal

I'm fine with Hayward leaving, but this letter just comes across as phony to me.

If you cared that much about the people of Utah you wouldn't leave. Don't try to save face by writing a letter to save face.

Its just dumb.

Well if they are matching, hopefully they do it early rather than wait till last hour of the 48 hours.

They have no reason to do Nets any favors.

Marks had to take gamble though.

I'm annoyed by this signing.

I don't know why we are wasting our time signing RFA we know will be matched. What's the point?

We are losing out on other Free Agents who we would have the cap space to sign.

Are we just doing this to screw over other teams from competing with us in the future?

I basically said in here the process your FO was going to undertake, it seemed like despite the obvious a lot of people around here still were focused on a fast (short sighted) rebuild that was never gonna happen. I must say I like what your FO is doing and you seem to be in real good hands.

Otto Porter probably isn't a max guy and you got the wiz to blow their load.
