Looking back it's kinda crazy we won 42 games despite playing garbage basketball for over a month and Middleton missing 50 games. I wouldn't be surprised if we exploded next year and won 50-55+.

We did get a bunch of lucky wins during the last stretch of the season though which cancels out a bit of the mid season slump. However we're also gonna be getting so many freebies from the **** east teams (bulls, pacers, hawks, nets etc....)

keep the cap, get rid of contract maxes. would help the talent distribution in the league, and would allow guys like lebron to make significantly more than guys like otto porter (who's a good player, but come on).

Yeah eliminating the max and putting in a hard cap would in theory be a deterrent for super teams and would drive down the money for role players. But that last point is why I just can't ever see the players union agree to it. Why on earth would the majority of players vote for something that would help a very small number of stars (some of which make a **** ton off the court too) and negatively affect the larger majority. Guys just aren't going to vote against their self interest.

Just have a hard cap like hockey with two way contracts for development. It is so simple and works beautifully.

Oh yeah if you didnt have a max you would need a hard cap, its the only way it would work. I just can't see the players voting for it.

I'm all for two way contracts. I like what the league did adding the two new g league contracts. But i think the league missed an opportunity with the new influx of tv money to create a true minor league. Both sides should have given up a little money to expand the gleague and raise salaries there across the board and make it a really good competitive league. If they did that you could do the baseball rules and give guys the option to come out right out of high school or stay two years in college.

Bit meh on Smart. I think he'd be a decent acquisition but I wouldn't give up much to get him.

Would we want to pay him whatever he's after in a couple of seasons?

Smart would be an awful fit for MIL. The only role that would make sense for him would be like an 8th Man who gets 10-12 min/game as a defensive specialist. In this era of basketball, you can't play 2 non shooters together, especially when neither is your C. Smart is one of the worst possible PG's to combine with Giannis. The only plausible plan with Smart would be to play him the 10ish mins/game that Giannis sits.

I'd take Smart for like a 2nd round pick, but I think the reputations around Smart and Rozier greatly outweigh their actual value as NBA players.

Smart's D more than makes up for his lack of talent on the other end. You'd probably play him 24-26 minutes like Tony Allen and he'd similarly have a big impact. Same kind of trade-off you have when you have a rim protecting C who is crap on offense like Larry or post 2010 Bogut.

A back-up for Green

In actuality, Durant is the backup for Green. But when Durant hurt his knee in the regular season, their shortage of players who can switch from small forward to power forward was highlighted. They signed Matt Barnes, and he would welcome a return. But the Warriors want more athleticism and offense at that spot.

A name I’m hearing the Warriors are eyeing: Michael Beasley.

Would love to grab Smart, our defense would be otherworldly. He would fit in well on offense too, very good in the post especially passing out of the post. I'd give up a first for him pretty easily.

That's a bargain bin deal for Patrick Patterson. Love what the Thunder are doing surrounding Westbrook with shooters (finally).

It's much better than Mirza's contract.

That PP contract is great. Glad we're paying double the price for Mirza.

So, like, I don't care that Gordon Hayward went to Boston - I have a few friends who are Jazz fans who I feel bad for, but not enough to be upset about it personally.

But, let's cool it with all of the Players Tribune announcements, can we? I literally DGAF what Gordon Hayward's - or his ghostwriter's - reasoning is for leaving Utah. He's not on that level.

Agreed. That Player Tribune thing is becoming a huge joke. And Hayward isn't on the level of Durant or LeBron.

I like getting insight directly from the players. You guys don't have to read it.

Yep, god forbid if a top 25 NBA player wants to put a message out there after making a major decision. I welcome stuff like this and would like to see it more often from lesser known players, it's good insight

Toronto having to break the bank to pay their two best players and lose Tucker and Patterson is good news for us.

I like the Tribune for it's intentions. The problem is that most of the pieces become too refined to feel genuine. Give me more unfiltered, unedited emotion.

Smart played 30 mins a game for conference finals team...but some how we only have room for 10 mins a game? :uhoh:

The Cavs/Warriors series is too fresh in some of your guys mind. Our goal should be becoming a top 10 offense and defensive club. Last year our defense was MUCH more of a problem than our offense. Smart + Giannis gives you an amazing foundation on becoming an elite defensive team. If we can be a good defensive team, it will help our offense that much more. Our offense will come down to if Giannis can have a respectable jumper since he will have the ball the most.
