What improvements. Hasn't gotten better in 4 years and is up for a contract. The most likely scenario is Smart for a second rounder.

Not meant to be a troll. My understanding is Jae's versatility and contract make him a piece Boston doesn't want to give up. Bradley is too important and that leaves Smart.

Personally I would trade you Sacramento's Malachi Richardson 1.5M for Jae Crowder 6.76 in a heart beat. I would even trade you Kostas Koufus but the salaries don't work.

I think, if he can, Danny will trade away Smart, Crowder and Bradley in the next few days. He'll need to make space to get Hayward paid and the C's need another big and probably a backup guard. There might be one deal, but I suspect he'll have to make two or three to get done what he needs to get done.

In the end, I think Rozier stays and Smart, Crowder, and Bradley go.

Couple of things.

Yeah I noticed your PM and actually I do too.
The troll part was Smart for a 2nd round pick.
In the article it doesn't state for a 2nd round pick.

Actually in the article it says this;

It’s expected that Smart will generate a lot of interest from teams around the league especially after coming off his best season in the NBA, with averages of 10.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.6 steals per game

That doesn't scream 2nd round pick to you does it? More likely a future 1st, would you disagree?

I think you gauge interest on the whole roster.

Rozier
Smart
Bradley
Crowder

They all will generate attention, All 4 good defenders on easy to swallow contracts. However, with most teams over the cap it may not be easy to deal them and take nothing back. I'd look to Utah to see if they'd want Crowder, I'd look to any WCF team with Playoff aspirations that has any cap space left (not sure of any to see if Celtics can't take back a young player in return.) Ivan Rabb from Memphis catches my eye but doubt they will have any room (Parsons deal looks like a disaster.

I would do a following trade:
Bradley to LAC
Beverley to BOS
Difference in salary is enough to sign Hayward. Doc loves Avery. With Avery, Blake, DJ and Gallo Clipps would be in playoffs and thats important to our pick.
Beverley is under contract one year longer then Bradley and its a First Team All-defence

THOMAS / BEVERLEY / ROZIER
SMART / BROWN / G.GREEN (re-signed min)
HAYWARD / NADER / OJELEYE
CROWDER / TATUM / miniMLE
HORFORD / ŽIŽIĆ / THEIS
There's only one statistics that's important: who won...Bill Russell

That's a pretty solid idea. Really like Beverley. Plays about as many games per year as AB is the only downside.

Bradley or Smart seem like the guys destined to be on the move for you guys, since they're contracts are coming up next summer and Brown/Hayward can easily take over their minutes.

I'm quietly hoping Crowder is the guy you choose to move, and that the Magic can swindle him away from you.

Question, who's shaping up to be your PF next season? Is it Crowder? Or Tatum?

Isn't the cap rules more stringent when you do a sign and trade? I know this would get us under the cap but would we still be able to use exceptions?

What's Clippers cap situation? I don't think the trade works straight up. They're also probably hard-capped and would rather keep the team-friendly contracts on their books. PatBev can also play the PG. Bradley can't. Doc won't go for it as much as he loves AB.

Can i make a list real quick.
Spoiler:
Contract numbers are via Smitty's cap sheets.

  1. Hayward 29.727.900
  2. Horford 27.734.405
  3. Bradley 8.808.989
  4. Crowder 6.796.117
  5. Thomas 6.261.395
  6. Tatum 5.645.400
  7. Brown 4.956.480
  8. Smart 4.538.020
  9. Rozier 1.988.520
  10. Zizic 1.645.200
  11. Theis 815.615
  12. Roster charge 815.615

    Total w/o Hayward: 70.005.756
    Total w Hayward: 99.733.656

    Salary cap 2017: 99.093.000
That are my numbers if we wave & renounce Mickey, Young, Green, Jerebko, Olynyk, Amir, Zeller and stash Yabusele.

Now we trade one player no matter what, that would create another roster charge at $815.615. And send out Jackson + cash to buy out his guaranteed contract ($650.000).

Wouldn't it be enough to just trade Rozier for a future 2nd rounder? So our payroll would go to $98.560.751?

We could keep our entire core minus Rozier and Olynyk. Or am i wrong with my math? Capologists can you confirm or deny my math please.

I don't know if that works or not. I'm not as clued in. However, we need to find a big somewhere.

I don't know where that thread where the 2 way contracts are either, but I would assume Nader, Kadeem Allen and Ojeye are all candidates for those if not end of bench deals.

If it came down to a choice between Smart or Bradley, i'd rather let Smart go, and only cause i think Bradley is a more important piece at this point in time.

Although i think Bradley would likely get us more in any potential trade, i feel like Ainge would be more likely than not to pull the trigger on mid season trade deadline move if we are again in a top 2 seed in the East. Depends on what moves The Cavs make/get Melo etc

Would you do a trade:
TO ORL: Bradley & Crowder
TO BOS: Vučević and ORL '18 FRP unprotected ?

In the latest Dunc'd On podcast episode, they specified Smart as the possible trade chip to open up cap space. They estimated his return value in a trade as a late 1st round pick (ATL, DAL, SAS possible destinations) or someone like Holmes from Philly or Mejri (+ some other asset) from Dallas.

Nah, not unprotected. Lottery protected, but not unprotected.

But I don't think that deal would clear enough cap space for you, anyway, so can't see it happening.
