Look I really like young, but im really confused as to why this happened? We have Morris/Chris/Scott and Gortat/Mahinmi/Smith/Ochifu. Why do we need young?

I thought those two 2 way deals should have gone to Robinson/Kennee/Cunningham/humprhies. Unless this means the end for daniel ochifu (likely) ? Maybe the are going to cut chris (doubtful), Or that someone is getting traded (also likely, but not likely the motivation for this move)

Yeah I'm confused about that deal also. Maybe McCullough gets cut to save money

Only two, two-way contracts per team are allowed, Young is getting one of them, the other will be determined by camp battle.
The two-way contract is a good thing, gives the guys a livable wage.

but if ochifu gets cut then a roster spot opens up for one of those guys in camp. This more than one way to make room for more of the young guys.

McCullough has a guaranteed contract. He isn't being cut.

2-way player can spend up to 45 days with the NBA team, but no more.

Cunningham isn't a candidate for a 2-way deal. He can play overseas for more than that. The 4 candidates for the 2-way spots would be our undrafted young guys: Young, Keene, Robinson & Humphries.

So, the last 3 on that list can be thought of as competing for the other 2-way spot. OTOH, we will also have 1 more spot available on the 15-man roster (assuming we pick up Sheldon's option & match the Porter offer to retain him). So, in fact we can keep two of those last three -- one as a 2-way player, the other on our roster for $815K.

Chris and his contract aint much to swallow considering next year is a team option. but like I said unlikely, ochifu could be getting cut, which would make piff a very happy boy! I would not mind seeing robinson signed straight up, then Kneene on the other 2 way,
If humpries out plays ochifu then cut daniel and keep the kid.

Tsze-Kung asked, "Is there one word which may serve as a rule of practice for all one's life?"

The Master said, "Is not Reciprocity such a word? What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others."

Ochefu didn't deserve to make the team last year. One of the worst NBA players. Weak upper and lower body.
Do we need a fourth center? I would keep the player with the most potential.

Sheldon Mac at summer league practice.
How long does it take to change that form and bring the ball above the head ?

Probably not easy to change.
More importantly, does he have trouble getting his shot off? Watch Steph Curry. Not a high release, but shoots quickly.

Since 2-way players can spend a max of 45 days with the team, you would never sign one of those guys b/c you need someone at a particular position. You'd sign him, as bsilver suggests would be correct, because you think he has the most potential to become an NBA player. Ideally, that is -- no one knows why Ernie makes the decisions he does.

Actually... since I don't think it likely Ernie will actually sign one of the other 4 undrafted amigos (Robinson/Keene/Humphries/Jenkins) to our active 15-player roster, it may be that Ernie 2-way'd Young b/c he thinks he is the closest to "ready." That would be dumb, imo: if he's that, then put him on the real roster. For that, if little else, we likely would have room.

It's early, but not a good start for Young, Ochefu and McCullough.

They have no creators on the first unit with Pangos running the team and Young playing the 3. Want to see Keene and House.

McCullough is weak. He'll never survive in the NBA. Ochefu hasn't attempted a single post up. He's sitting out on the perimeter.
