Andre Roberson 3 yrs 30 mill. That's overpaying a mediocre rotational player.

If Roberson was just an average shooter he probably gets closer to 3/60.

Do you think his defense is close to snells?

if you count his rebounding as defense, might be better, in a different way.

Roberson's good, Waiters was really good. RIsk in both signings, but I think less so on the Heat front. He just needs to stay healthy.

Roberson is arguably the best defensive non-big in the NBA. This is a great deal for OKC.

You guys didn't see what I was getting at. Roberson is simply better than Snell. Calling him a role player... I find funny. He's all defensive team. On offense he's a role player... on D he's a star.

If he even develops a 32% 3... he'll be insane.

Roberson is a more impactful player than Snell, even with his offensive troubles.

Seriously, you think Presti has had a good offseason? The only thing that mattered was to get Westbrook extended and he didnt. So he sent his 2nd or 3rd best player away for a rental of PG13. Thats not great GMing, thats the foul stench of desperation. I think its almost certain they lose both of those guys less than a year from today.

Of course Russ could sign his extension s mo from now too...

Oladipo being their 2nd/3rd best player doesn't mean anything. He was getting paid way too much money for a long time to be a pretty good but not great player with minimal upside. It was essentially a salary dump for an expiring contract, only that expiring contract turned out to be Paul George. You can blame Presti for giving Dipo that contract in the first place but he fixed that mistake quickly and got a year of a top 15 player for it.

The Patterson deal was outstanding, and Roberson at 3/30 is pretty solid too. The Russ extension is the big thing but outside of that they've done great.

from 1-10 on defense Snell is about 5 and Roberson is a 9.5

Not sure about the Roberson signing. He's a great defender but a pretty significant offensive liability. That team still has massive shooting problems with him WB and Adams all starting (assuming Patterson starts at PF). While an overall positive I'm not sure he necessarily fits with the roster.

It's an interesting broader issue. In the era of pace and space, is there still room for perimeter oriented defensive specialists like Roberson, Smart and Allen who can't shoot a lick?

Do we give Presti credit for offering Oladipo the contract in the first place (i.e. he knew at that price it would still be a good asset) or did he get lucky?

Yep, without a doubt. While Snell is versatile on d, Roberson is excellent on d while being versatile. And unless Snell ups his usage, no way in my mind he provides the same level of impact overall.

That's a good signing for OKC. Surprised Roberson took a 3-year deal. Thought that he would've gotten a 4-yr $48 mil offer from someone.

I agree... but man you can't go 3 for 21 on free throws in the playoffs

This. Having an offensive liability in today's game is just too much to overcome in my opinion. Think DeAndre, Roberson, MCW. I shy away from players like that, mostly because it frustrates the hell out of me.
