I don't really see a short length contract happening unless JJ is the one who pushed for it. Cap space has not done the heat much good as of late and a short length contract for JJ still wouldn't give the Heat much cap space in 2018 or 2019.

Going into that year 4 we will have Goran and Hassan coming off the books, and only Waiters entering his 29 year old season, and Bam under contract. I think that is the plan as of now.

Even if we give JJ 3/45-50, I cant see us going year 4

Probably looking at a 2 for 30 type deal. I don't think we go close to 4 years at the top end figure.

JJ's never been paid more than $4 mil per year and has earned a total of $17 mil for his career. Comparatively, the final numbers of this contract will be "big money" for him.

But if it truly is big money, Riley won't empty the vault and leave himself short of the money necessary to complete the roster in a way he envisions.
