Wiretap has the pacers are trying to clear salary to sign him. I would like this move. Thoughts?

don't see why. he's a good 4. would have liked the move had everything not hit the fan. I suppose he's insurance if Leaf isn't ready to play, but I'd be a lot happier if we were using the cap space for a wing.

As always, it will depend on the numbers. I like his game and he'd be a good fit next to Turner. It would be a really interesting big man rotation with Seraphin and Leaf (I'm assuming Thad Young is gone by the season opener).

I like him as a player, but please can we get a wing and another point guard before we get more bigs?

I think it would make sense. Christmas, anigbogu, seraphin, and jefferson probably won't be on the rotation.

Collison/ lance
Oladipo/ GR3
GR3/ free agent or maybe Thad starts.
Olynyk/ Leaf
Turner / Sabonis

Looks pretty good to me. That potential rotation. No real incentive to play Thad heavy minutes. I hope we go young.

I'm honestly still hoping Lance starts. He and Oladipo could make a fun team to watch.

I'm not a big fan. Kelly's already 26 years and he's just a regular guy to come of the bench, never produced that much, and got a lot of buzz because of some playoff games. In my opinion we already have enough players for this role, and with the numbers of teams looking for him, I'm sure he won't be cheap and will take a good amount of money.

This only makes a little bit of sense if we trade Thaddeus for a SF or playing him in that position. But, to be clear here, Thaddeus is a much better players than Olynyk and it's not even close.

Call me crazy, but i like it. I'd love to see a bully/enforcer like Olynyk next to Myles Turner. It'd also allow for us to properly develop Leaf and Sabonis with lesser roles and not as many minutes. I don't think he would change our W/L record much, so we'd still be good on that draft pick we're aiming for but i like the idea of having his toughness in the lineup. Essp next to Turner.

Also, would guarantee Thad Young gets traded sooner then later and we may pick up an additional young piece or draft pick in return for him.

I'd like it, would be a fun team to watch.
But we still need another wing player! Ian Clark is still out there, he could be up for grabs.
Hell, we could even take our chances on James Young, he is still only 21yrs old.

I'd would personally much rather keep Thad around than sign Olynyk.

Thad is a better player I think, has a play style that doesn't overlap with anyone else currently on the team, and for what he does, he does it very well and very consistently.

How many stretch 4s do we need? At this point we are just taking away from developmental minutes to all the big guys we just drafted.

I thought you left?

Olynyk is a nice piece but unless we have a trade lined up for Thad we could use some help in other areas.

Would love to go after Marcus Smart instead, but we literally have no assets to deal and I don't see Ainge doing us any favors :noway:

I'm inclined to agree. Finding a 3 would seem to make a lot more sense but, there aren't enough of those multi skilled guys to satisfy the demand. Turner and Olynyk provide nice size and both can shoot, not sure either can guard on the perimeter. Sabonis and Leaf backing them up is probably a good match of role to experience. Not sure what you are doing with Thad Young in this situation because playing him at the 3 is not optimal.

I want no part of him. He's not a good player, he takes cheap shots when he gets pushed around, and we have too many bigs as it is. If we sign him it will be worse than the PG trade and could set our team back years given that we apparently didn't have enough space to sign him so it's not like he'd be signed for like $5 mil a year.

Just a terrible terrible move if it happens.

I don't think Kelly Olynyk is setting anyone back years, also, he takes cheap shots? Do you have any examples?

I agree we have a surplus of stretch 4's/5's, you seem unnecessarily upset about this rumor though.
