He is only guy on the team i'm extremely doubtful on. Just look like competent point guard.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

Yeah, Payne - especially, but let's face it, Dunn, Grant and Valentine are all more likely to be bench-level talents at their peaks. The key is to balance development with throughput of talent to evaluate.

Ideally it's a 3 year cycle with only 1 guy entering the process each year. Gives guys time and a system with players who know the system around them. The problem is that teams with a bunch of guys who know the system and can help develop rooks generally are too good to tank.

Here, I think it's a 2 year cycle with 2 - 3 guys entering each year. Under this process, you increase throughput to increase chance of finding a star, but you struggle with development. That's been the problem with most tankers.

Oh I'm very doubtful on him. I just feel like he's got to dominate this summer, or his time in the pros may be limited to this rookie contract. He doesn't have out of this plus athleticism to rely on to stay in this league if his skills aren't above par.

Honestly, guys like him with skill and and unrealized potential are what the d-league is for. If he sucks during SL, I'm all for a full-year d-league assignment.

Not sure I agree with you on Dunn. I still feel like he can be a high level starter. He had a horrendous rookie year, but his skills were still visible.

Grant has shown he has one NBA level skill, so he'll probably stick around a roster for awhile. Valentine hasn't really shown much, but he has hobbled by injuries and DNPs, so I'll reserve judgement on his future.

I think it changes as I recall that the Bulls said that Valentine/Zipser will be seeing limited roles.

When did the Bulls comment on summer league playing time?

It will be nice experiment to see how good fit Markkanen would be with Bamba for example who is even longer than him or Ayton who is comparable size. And is it possible play two 7 footers in today's NBA.

People are small balling as hell today. If it works it would be counter on the league. It would be one those "light years ahead" moves. But it needs to work first.

Agreed. Dunn and Grant have got to take priority over him, and for that 3rd PG if we have one, it should be a vet IMO.

Bring Andre Miller back from retirement? He's only 41.

IMO, it's the PG that we need to see the most of. Dunn and Payne are both recent lottery picks. Both are young and need to show improvement. Dunn was pretty bad last year and Payne was basically worthless. I think we need to go 76ers this year and give both of them the lion's share of minutes to see if they can develop. Use a high #1 next year on a SG or SF to compliment Lavine and see where that takes us.

Markkanen needs to start as well - Mirotic will probably be back but we know what he is.

Is it weird I get more excited for the start of Summer League than I do for the actual season?lol

Also, is anyone going to be uploading these games to youtube or anything? I will be out of town without cable the next few weeks.

Like having the best high school team, then needing to play college teams.

Payne was basically dominating the d-league every time he played there for the Thunder and Bulls; just look at his analytics stats. At this point he's a 4A player where he's too good for the g-league but not yet good enough for the NBA.

A less competitive environment of a rebuilding team could be good for his personal development. He's gaining nothing but chemistry with teammates by playing in the summer league.
