1) he has a NTC
2) PR from trading him is worse than losing him
3) this is the third thread of this type in the past week. Annoying.

I agree with OP.
Abolishing the no trade clause and trading away your star player would ultimately lead to a decrease in super-teams come offseason.
I think its a legit way to promote NBA parity. Dont let the players have the power. As an owner, you should do whats best for your business, and keeping Lebron for 1 year, knowing that he'll leave the next year; is a bad business decision.
Trading him for other good players sets up your business for the next 5-6 years as opposed to just 1 with Lebron, which would be a wiser business decision, and better for NBA parity since Lebron wouldnt have the choice to join a team of his desire to make another "superteam".

Technically he would cause he a NTC so just like Melo he can say yes or no on the trade....I think its BS but in Melo's case he has 2 yrs remaining...LB has 1

According to the Celtics' faithful, Boston doesn't want LeBron. Good to know.

Would the Boston "creed" include being the "Flea Market of Racism in America"? Is that what Boston "actually stands for"? And that's Bill Russell's quote. Not mine. Point being, if you're going to try and put your team and your fan base on some pedestal that superiority complex of yours better be willing to own all of Boston's "creed" not just the points in time you choose to cherry pick. You and your team and your fans are no better or worse than anyone else. We all suck.
That's hilarious and co

It's Cleveland. They may not have another contender for years and years, better to take your chances with one more year with this core+ a possible GS injury rather than break it all up.
think Boston should do is just wait it out and trade for Davis, thats the home run that puts them in contention with GS.

1. He doesn't know LeBron is leaving, its only speculation at this point.
2. He couldn't possibly get FMV value back in a trade right now.
3. He's defintiley not going to trade him too his biggest conference rival and throw away the current season.
4. If Bron does decide to leave next year, he's almost certainly going to need to leave via sign and trade.

...yes, and Cavs are a Kyrie ankle or Love knee from losing in the ECF to Boston.

True but so what? How does that matter to this conversation, the point is the cavaliers should try it out more one year

Let's start with a false premise and build a conversation around it:
"If we know the Martians are going to attack, why not blow up Mars now?"
"If we know the Martians are going to attack, why not blow up Mars now?"

LeBron-less Cavs with Kyrie, Love & whatever Boston gives easily makes the playoffs in the East this year and are setup for the future.
Celtics w LeBron are a filthy team. If he wants a chip this year, that's a solid play.

have you not watch the Warriors in the playoffs the last 3 years. Warriors usually don't get injured. It's the team that they play against that gets injured.

Re: If Dan Gilbert knows LeBron is leaving, why not trade him to Boston now?
Gilbert should get him in a meeting and let him know whats up. He leaves Cleveland and his legacy is ruined, to go where? LA? That still won't beat the Warriors and think how dumb Lebron would look leaving and losing yet again. Plus he's 33 years old already, I doubt Magic wants to bring Lebron to LA, he would ruin chemistry and not play in Walton's system. Lebron can't play in a system and thats the reason he loses time and time again. Take a look at the Warriors, everyone is sacrificing on defense and offense, setting picks, chasing loose balls, switching on pick and rolls, I DO NOT SEE Lebron doing any of these things. Off the ball he is average at best. He better just re-up in Cleveland and let Kyrie control the offense and just improve his off-ball play and become a better shooter because him controlling the ball 80 percent of the time WILL NOT beat Golden State. I'm glad he got his a** whooped so he can mature.

Kyrie said he wants out of if Lebron leaves. You don't trade the second best player of all time unless he tells you he is 100% leaving.

Exactly. Of course it's not a lock but I'd take a 25% chance of winning a title over a guarantee of not winning one. Let's be honest, without Lebron the Cavs probably won't win another title again in the foreseeable future.

Come on, man. I know pride is everything to some, but you can't really believe that?. You root for your team to win, and when they are contenders, it's that much more thrilling, enthralling. The best player in the game on your team, regardless of the narrative of his career, what he's about, etc., would have you do that, you would tune in every night, and if you wouldn't...well....
And it's not like he's a bad person, the only reason anybody can really hate him is because he busts your teams ass. That's fair...but to say that your basketball team is so holy that you wouldn't want him on it because he thinks about his legacy and molds it how he deems.....that you wouldn't want one of the most unstoppable yet the most unselfish GOAT level player of all time.........
But I'm a life long fan of the wackest franchise in the NBA, so what do I know...maybe that kind of stuff does mean something to somebody who roots for a team with such rich history....
