Just realized one of the reasons as to why Doc sabotaged the Melo deal might have been to make CP3 leave so Austin could start.

Who could we target to upgrade us at SG?

I think Williams is best and most productive when he plays the 6th man role.

there aren't any good FA's who can star and be willing to accept MLE. Could we perhaps package Rivers and Johnson to someone like Allen Crabbe or Nicolas Batum? Would that be a shortsighted move?

Clips Negotiating with Teodosic

The 2016-17 season saw two teams, Cleveland and the Los Angeles Clippers pay a combined $28M in tax penalties. Five teams, Cleveland, Golden State, Portland, Toronto and Washington (if the Otto Porter sheet is matched) have combined for $115M through the first four days of free agency. Ironically each of those 5 teams retained their core players and did not add an impact player from a different team. The tax bill will certainly increase during the summer.

I've mentioned this in another thread, but I'd be interested in Afflalo. I know his reputation has suffered in recent years but he was a very solid player not too long ago. Also, he is from LA and perhaps he'd have extra motivation to play well here

Aldridge is reporting that the clippers are trying to engage Memphis in a sign and trade for tony Allen. Not sure how I feel about that. He can't shoot and is getting up there in age

as long as it's 1 or 2 years with a partial guarantee it's fine to take a flyer on him. you want a guy like him for defensive purposes, assuming luc doesn't come back. or even if he does you still wanna take the chance that tony allen can do tony allen things.

S&Ts have to be three years, so id imagine two guaranteed and the third partial. Not sure Allen fits too well, but we do need another wing defender. The problem is, I dont want to see him out there too much with Blake and DJ. Makes more sense in small units (Gallo, Blake 4/5).
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

ah right yeah i forget about the s/t thing. honestly i was hoping all along we'd snag him the min. if we do a s/t i'd be a little more reticent but hey, still do it i think. would just hope we're not offloading anything more than a 2nd rounder.

Id imagine we try to deal out another contract, although im not sure who the Grizzlies would agree to take back that would open up some more room. We are hard capped at $125M, and while I havent looked at the math after the Gallo deal, I would imagine we are trying to dump Wes' contract and replace him with Allen.

Wasn't Tony Allen on Doc's Celtics team that won the title? No wonder.

Would be a great get.

Reed is a 27-year-old center out of Saint Louis University, listed at just under seven feet and coming in at about 220 pounds.

His size and mobility, coupled with an innate sense of spacing, lend to his exceptional rebounding ability. These factors also help him alter and block a lot of shots.

Reed is unpolished on the offensive end, with most of his points coming after offensive rebounds or off drive-and-dish plays. His range doesn’t extend much further than a few feet, with about 76 percent of his made baskets coming right at the rim. On the plus side, he’s shown a soft touch on short push shots from a variety of angles around the basket, an encouraging sign for interested parties.

Kendall Marshall on Summer League Team + Reed on Clips' Radar (UPDATED)

Post#436 » by Ranma » Thu Jul 6, 2017 6:09 pm

I was actually going to post about Reed since I've liked him during his draft year. He's defensive presence but lacking in bulk and no perimeter game to speak of. I'm definitely interested and reportedly so are the Clippers.

Another player I want is Kendall Marshall. In fact, I was advocating for him despite his health concerns over Raymond Felton last year and Felton served me a plate of crow with his performance this past season. Felton is likely out of our price range now, but I'm still high on Marshall. If his health checks out, I'd probably push for him over D-Rose and Teodosic.

Edit: Aldridge just tweeted that the Clippers are actually in pursuit of Reed but there is competition for him.

The big question is, will $2.4 million be enough for Reed? That's how much we have left of our MLE after the Teodosic signing.

all things considered i'd say our offseason is looking a lot better than the nightmare scenarios that could have been.
