I know were up 9 but that was kind of annoying to not have Davies bunt there.

Davies has got to have close to the most run support in the league I would imagine?

They showed a graphic a couple innings ago and he was second behind one of Colorado's starters

With how he pitches and the 9-4 record I would have to agree. I would love to see the stats.

BTW, Counsell was asked about Davies record before the game and he pointed directly to the run support he's gotten. Which was refreshing. He did hedge by saying he's been in close games and kept the lead. Haha!

Villar can't even make solid contact against Jon Jay.

The Cubs got what they deserved today for that "rainout" earlier in the season.

Alright, I'm really invested now. I want the playoffs

Don't make any win now trades though, maybe for a reliever at most. Just ride the wave baby

What a wonderfully unexpected surprise this team has been.

Went into the year mainly just hoping the younger and pre-arb guys did well, instead we get this. Not only are they 4.5 games up in first place, it's such a likable group pf players.

Whatever Stearns is being paid, Attanasio got a big time bargain.

We are totally going to be buyers. Brace yourselves - the trade deadline is coming.

Really **** annoying that two of the games this weekend are 3am games here. Too damn early.

Wonder what we can get for a Henson/Jabari/Telly/Delly package?

As far as Davies is concerned, he is the poster child for why wins and losses are meaningless for pitchers. A 10-game winner at the halfway point who wouldn't even be in the starting rotation for most teams. Cased closed.

Now, given the nature of baseball, there really are no such things as "statement games." But man, that sure felt like a statement game, didn't it? All I know is that for this fan, it was the most rewarding game of the year, so far. Say what you want about our pitching, but we're 88 games in, and the bats have yet to cool off.
