If he comes back, he better not do his passive stuff to keep his 3 point percentage up. There's being efficient and then there's being passive.

We are... but in this case I'm not sure what EG could have done differently.

If EG had given Otto the full 5 year max people would have complained about that...so he let the market set price, as many of us advocated.

And now the market has spoken.

It is what it is.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

It's not really that for me, although signing Otto to a max earlier would have been the better idea.

It's more that this Nets offer sheet wouldn't look so scary if we didn't have to look at Mahinmi's contract.

Honestly...screw Porter, Falk, and the Nets. Call their bluff and let him walk. They gave him the absolute best contract you could give in that situation. Money, Kicker, No Trade, Player Option... Make the Nets eat that cost

1) The better they do the worse Boston is by making that 2018 less valuable - PLUS
2) They have Mozgov (16M), Nicholson (6.5M), and Deron Williams (5.5M) on the books for each of the next 3 years - PLUS
3) Those plus Russell and Lin mean they are capped out this year, and have only 20M next year.
4) The cap has indeed flat lined. We cant pay Porter now and assume that an increasing cap will make it fine.

Falk and Porter are trying to bully their way to have their cake and eat it to... I.E. We are going to get you an obscene contract, but then the team you really want to play for will match it...NO...MAKE HIM GO TO NY

Make Otto play for a crap team this year and next without question. By Otto's 3rd year of the contract, assuming they didnt sign anyone 2018, the Nets will FINALLY have 1 Max spot (About 30M)...

Russell
LeVert
Otto
RHJ / Nicholson
Mozgov

So if Otto hangs for 2 terrible years, then that is the team he will have around him in trying to get a Max player... Good luck

Lol. No way. You keep him and figure it out later. Mahinmi is the worst contract on the roster by far. He will be out 2 months due to slipping on a banana peel.

Supposedly the trade kicker isn't as bad as it sounds for some technical reasons.

I don't think the Wizards can really afford to let Porter walk. If there is a scenario(Bogs TPE maybe) where Crowder could be acquired(lotto protected first), would that make it easier?

the only way to stick it to the nets is to not match. I mean i'd probably try to talk myself into porter if we actually got him but its an massive overpay for a role guy... even if he is an elite role guy.

tying up cap for 6 days doesnt mean much. there is no one left worth signing and once porter is matched marks is just going to give the same offer to KCP

Ugh. Hate the player option. And that little provision of him getting paid half his money by October 1st is dirty pool IMO. A poison pill. Brooklyn trying to screw us over if we ever get cash strapped, such as will happen when we start going into the luxury tax.

I don't like that Otto is going to hit free agency again in year seven. If we were to acquire Cousins in the summer, then that would be right in the middle of our run.

It's a **** contract offered by a **** franchise.

**** them. Match it and move on to trading Mahinmi and Gortat.

26ish mil a year is about 6 mil a year more then I think he deserves but i'm ok with them matching. The details of the contract confirm to me a couple things:

The BRK Nets should be contracted
Falk can choke on a dildo
ditto EG

Well we are also holding them up from taking on money to gin assets, Like they could be cashing in on the celtics trying to cast off guys like smart, bradley and crowder, but their cap is tied up, mean while we can operate the way we are until the physical is approved I believe. So EG bought himself under a week to pull off some **** to get us under the tax and maybe just maybe make us a little better a long the way, lets see what he can do !
