Really? I dont think a 4 year 88 mill is that bad compared to what we were about to give Otto.

However, from my understanding we could offer 4/82 mill and they still wouldnt be able to match without getting rid of one of those guys, unless they plan on giving away Stanley Johnson or Luke Kenard + Ellenson for free.

IMO KCP on 4/82 is a lot better than Otto on 4/106

26M vs 22M. i mean honestly not a huge difference. it still has the same effect after the 18-19 season when our own guys will be RFAs.

certainly more at play for detroit then the wiz. the offer they made to galloway mucked up the waters a bit making it more then just an easy match.

You mean in 19-20 when the only things on our cap otherwise are the last year of Mozgov/Nicholson/Williams cap holds and rookie deals? And even if we added KCPs max to that number we would barely be over half this years cap and nowhere near the Luxury Tax that summer. Thats a non issue IMO. Say you give D'angelo a max that offseason and Rondae 15 mill a year (doubtful), you still wouldnt be at this years salary cap, let alone whatever it is in 2020. Then a year after that in 20-21, 27+ mill of space opens up when Moz/Nicholson/Dwill expire. I think youre really fabricating this problem considering how little long term money we actually have committed at the moment and the fact that our ownership has proven that they're willing to spend.

27 million frees up in 20-21 but thats also when levert will be an RFA. and allens 1 year out.

the tax isnt the concern. the concern is having a team with less then the MLE to spend or over the cap and a 30-35 win core.

2017 Nets Offseason Thread II

Post#1704 » by Paradise » Fri Jul 7, 2017 3:20 am

Good lord, I never would've imagined Hardaway getting $71 million dollars. Hawks will unlikely match.

Knicks dealt Hardaway to draft J. Grant who was then traded for Derrick Rose. Now, they renounce Rose to sign Hardaway to an overpaid contract.

KCP at $88m doesn't sound crazy now. It's basically the market.

That is nuts. So if Hawks don't match, 50% of the Knicks' cap is basically locked into Noah, Lee, THJ for the next 3+ seasons? That is pure insanity.

Honestly if that core is still only worth 30-35 wins then we have way bigger things to worry about than the last year of a KCP max. Like the team moving to Seattle or a playoff drought on the level of the Kings/Wolves or hiring Sam Hinkie to start the Process 2.0.

And the best one?

LMAO, so much Knicks."

Isnt it nice to finally have a competent Front Office?

If the wiz match we should just stay patient...there will always be opportunities for salary dumps after all of these ridiculous contracts being handed out during the last couple of years. I'm also down to add good value short term contracts similar to how we got Lin and Booker last year.

Detroit got Bradley. Give KCP 12-15 and easily get him.

wow, astonishing move by Detroit.

If Marks is able to get KCP at significantly less than a max and a halfway reasonable deal, let's say even something between 15 and 18 million, I would be super content with our offseason. Get it done Sean!

Does any team else have the cap space to offer KCP 15 million a year?

Depends on what Atlanta does with THJ.

3/50 with a team option on the 3rd and I'd be ridiculously happy with KCP

We can get KCP even cheaper now... Can't we dump Booker or someone to bring in Porter and KCP??
