Reed is going to gsw and it's going to hurt

For a min? They just spent all of their money on Swaggie PP. :-? Reed is going to some random team like the Hawks smh

Good player for Memphis or Chicago. I hope he doesn't go to Chicago.

A J Hammons was 7-0, 278 lbs last season in the D-League. Just watched a bunch of his clips. Not terrible.

Solid improvement to a 41-41 team in a conference that has been greatly weakened.

Oh snap Babbitt is gone eh :(

So basically, we upgraded Babbitt for Olyinky and Reed for unknown Rook eh :-? not bad but I can see why some people are not as joyous as I am. lol

It wouldn't be so bad but the length of those contracts. GTFO. And how much we are paying some players who would be bench players on most playoff teams. :noway:

I believe Riley is out the door and just built this team for whomever is coming up next. They are young, moveable contracts, I guarantee they dump TJ along with Dragic by February. I only say Dragic because he is the oldest on the team I think and his contract will help move TJ's contract. Then by next season or this if need be they can trade contracts away for better players. Otherwise Riley is def. out on his own merit to retire.

Also we better sign UD.

Dragic and TJ will be the key.... But so far this offseason has been an eye opener.... I'm thinking that if this team does make it to the ECF, it will give Riles a way out and retire with a competitive team not so much a true contender. Just something is off to me with the direction they are going with this.

3 year deal. We have his bird rights at the end of contract. RFA.
No worries for any of our young players now.

My overall feeling is that we have a team that is competitive, in that it is good enough to reach the playoffs; however, it will only get better if players like Winslow, Adebayo, Richardson, McGruder, White, and TJ take steps forward. Olynyk also has potential to improve. Babbitt and Ellington are shooters and good at it. A modern team needs players like that off the bench who can deliver. Ours do.

I think we are a 40-45 win team that will make the playoffs and then fight for the second round, depending on with whom we are matched. We won't be a team that another team will want to play, because we will be very physical. Olynyk is many things, some good, some not so good, but he isn't soft and that's to his credit.

If we stay near the 0.500 mark until the all star game, we may even be better than 45 wins. Give us home court advantage and there will be trouble. I guarantee it. If these guys start to feel they can win, I think they might be able to push better teams around. It's our nature.

Meanwhile, our young players should improve and add to their value. I'd love to see good progress.

One thing we cannot forget is to take care of our G-League link. We can find more talent there during the season.

This season should be a lot of fun. There is middle-ground between contending and being in the lottery. Some of you may call it treadmilling, but if we are staying competitive and our youth is improving, I like it.

No apologies.

Just something is off to me with the direction they are going with this.

I don't know if a true contender is even possible to build right now. LeBron playing like the GOAT along with Love and Kyrie were out there just playing for pride against the Warriors.

I think at this point most Heat fans would enjoy just giving LeBron a run even if that meant losing in 6 at the most.

The other option is that we're betting on our coaching staff to make these guys into positive assets. Right now we're strapped for picks and valuable young players. If Dion and JJ continue to progress and Olynyk plays well there's the potential for trading them, something which you can't do with expiring contracts.

Obviously the flip side to that is a McSob or Deng situation where the contract ends up being an overpay... but we'll cross that bridge if and when we get there.

Crazy though how JJ goes from being career journeyman on multiple teams and barely getting minutes on a Raptors team to a $60 million deal in just one season. He definitely had it in him though and always showed flashes, but losing weight and getting a fair opportunity under a decent coach definitely helped him.

What a weird day. Well, can't say we aren't trying to be competitive.

With a bit of luck and continued development of our youth, we'll be OK next season. This offseason would've been so bad had we whiffed on Hayward, and then Dion and JJ bailed.
