You guys are a rebuilding team that should be playing for the draft, it's not like the Suns are gon do anything with an extra 10-15 mil.

Miami getting the Mavs to take McRoberts to fit under cap

Jazz and Celtics not getting much traction on a S&T - good for you jazz - don't just take Crowder

If the Celtics need to move players: Bradley /Smart for Chandler

It looks like Ellington is un-guaranteed, hadn't noticed that. Barring any tag along minimum guys the MIA team next year is:

Dragic, Waiters, Johnson, J. Johnson, Whiteside with Olynyk, Bam, Winslow, Richardson, McGruder, White bench. That is anywhere from a 6-12 seed in the East I think. Behind Cavs, Celts, Raps, Wiz, Milwaukee, then maybe Charlotte, Philly, Det, New York (sans triangle)

It has nothing to do with the cap room if you've read any one of the thousands of posts about it. It's getting him off the team and opening up a roster spot while not spending money or assets to do so.

Johnson shed a bunch of weight and came in to the year in great shape. He also played as a secondary distributor off of Dragic. The numbers aren't eye-popping 13/5/4 in 48/34/70 splits at 28 minutes a game. So not amazing but as others have said, solid. I guess that's all $15M a year gets you these days is "solid starter." That's kind of crazy to me.

Everything is multiplied by 50% nowadays. The $10m solid starter salary is now $15m. The $20m max deals of yesteryear is now $30m.

How did Johnson get $60/4 and Patterson only got $16/3? Johnson may be a better player but is he that much better?

It has to do a little bit with the player's skill set and value to the team in question. Johnson's skill set matches what Miami wants with Goran to a tee. In a vacuum Johnson isn't $10M more per season better than Patterson though.

James Johnson is a good player... But 4 years 60 Million?
I would have offered 3 years 40 Million with 3rd year Team Option.

Snell 3yr 46 mil?!,

a decent 3&D player who shot 40% from 3

Iggy 3 yr 48 mil?

a key cog to the Warriors team, particularly their defense

James Johnson 60 mil

Utility player versatile forward than can flourish in the Heat System

Hardaway Jr 71 mill?!

probably the worst deal on this list...I think it's similar to Knight's contract- the signing was based mostly on potential

Gallo 66 mil?

one of the underrated hybrid forwards, who plays at an all-star level when healthy

Ingles (who?) 52 million for 4 yrs

one of the better 3pt shooters in the league- 44%. seems to be an intangible type guy and was crucial to the Jazz jump from 9th to 5th seed

Jrue Holiday 126 mil??!!?!,

unquestionably an overpriced contract...but Holiday is still an above average guard. move might have been to make Anthony Davis happy

Andre Roberson at 40 million??!!?!?!

not a terrible deal. just ignore his FT percentage this playoffs. He's a good defender and fits well in a system that has two stars that will dominate the ball a lot

Langston Galloway 21 million

wins the "who we play for award". looks like a hybrid between Bill Cosby and Urkel. 7 million per year isn't bad in today's salary cap; it's fair value for a 9th/10th man.

Reddick 23 million for a year.

Reddick is a solid player, and for 1 year it doesn't matter. Philly needs to reach the cap floor anyway

And they claim nobody wants Knight? I'm calling BS. Something not adding up right...

All these players are overpaid and have value. Knight is overpaid, and has unfortunately demonstrated since December 2015 that he has mostly negative value, and he's on contract for 3 more seasons.

NBA salaries are ridiculous man. How about base salaries for all of them of 5 million a year.

- player jersey sales... Players get 50% of the profits. Should help stars make up a heck of a lot of money off their popularity and abilities.

- performance incentives.. 20% if they average so and so stats. Another 20% if they make All Stars. Another 20% if they make NBA teams.

- Team bonuses. Ratings. Teams should get a small percentage of the advertising money. For those teams that are popular, cap their bonus to a certain value then distribute the rest evenly.
Because of this... Teams would want to put a good team on the court or atleast an entertaining one.

- franchise tags on players... Double their base salaries.

- the additional profits saved then should be returned to the teams. Owners should have a capped profit figure. The rest should be spent on the stadium upgrades and fan entertainment and events. Return back to the fans who make all of it possible.

Of course non of these will happen since players and agents run the league lol.

Just worked it out..
A player like Lebron would still get around 35 million to 40 million a year based on the above. Average players would still get paid based on their performance and it encourages them to keep trying rather than coast it.... But prevents GMs giving out 15 million a year contracts on role players who dont perform.

not really lol. Hardaway Jr. will make more in 3 seasons of this contract than Hardaway made in his entire 13 year career

Its simple... knight was litterally one of the worst players in the league last year.... both by analytics and the eye test.

Now with that said he's only 25 and has some talent so it wouldn't shock me if the suns are able to do a Yankee swap and some team trades their disappointing dude on a bad contract for him and hopes a change so scenery changes things.

I also think Knight's contract is decent. The guy averaged 20pts per game two seasons ago. He would do the same if he was on a different team, in my opinion.

He's been BAD with us. I get it. If my team was bad, I'd take a gamble on him. I think his career will turn around on a different team.
