I definitely have mixed feelings on this move. Don't think it's an albatross but also would have been happy going low budget full tank.

Maybe we outbid the bulls for Holiday with half of this. I mean... I'm usually optimistic and don't trip over individual moves. But this schidt.

Reeks of "stauskas."

thanks for everything, thibs.

This only makes sense if the Knicks make this a sign & trade involving Noah.

Hayward was one of the hottest FAs this summer, but he's been in the L 7 yrs. We would have thrown a max at him if we had had the space too.

But rewind 3 years ago, Hayward was finishing his 4th season:
- Hayward (2013-2014): 16.2ppg, 41.3 FG%, 30.4 3PT% in 36.4mpg
- Hardaway (2016-2017): 14.5ppg, 45.5 FG%, 35.7 3PT% in 27.3mpg

I guess if the Knicks had signed Hayward to an offer sheet of 4 yr/$71 mil contract 3 yrs ago, we would have gone nuts too. But guy blossomed into an All Star.

Not saying THJr will have the same career trajectory, but we have to roll the dice on talent sometimes (calculated risk). Guy is a hard worker and has a real desire and focus to get better.

You're going to be one of those guys that talk yourself into believing this is a good move, right.

Absolutely. And then if it doesn't go well, I can live with it.

More enjoyable for me to look for the positives and trying to see through the Knicks' lens rather than being miserable and cynical all the damn time, expecting the worst outcomes.

Also, Mase had it right as to the intent of my post.

I have studied game logs, watched highlights from this year, saw the work he clearly put in the gym, and considered past news reports, his personality traits, behavior, and how he has responded to adversity.

My predictions on THjr are based on my own personal gathering and assessment of data and opinions.

If you cannot respect where I am coming from as a fan, then I kindly ask you to leave me be.

I can't respect where you're coming from because you're the same guy who berated people for trashing Isiah Thomas, then simply acted like you never did that and moved on.

"Miserable and cynical all the damn time!" - The Knicks are a miserable franchise for the last 17 years. Truly downright one of the worst teams in sports and you're sitting here berating the fans yet again about being upset with yet another terrible move. There's positivity and then there is an arrogance that you carry with you, as if you are better than everyone else for blindly supporting awful moves for years just because you're a fan. There's being positive and there's being blind and dumb. I would realize the difference and then move forward with your life from there.

Nevermind, just figured out you are Mr. Perfect. No wonder.

Good point and I generally agree with this line of thinking however I feel teams like knicks need to focus on drafting players and developing them successfully first. Prove you can do that and then move on to riskier moves. I hope it works out despite knicks doing knicks moves.

I guess he defended some bum and scored with %55 fg in that game.

He's not a good rebounder. Not good defender.
He can score but he's not efficient at all.

Just check his stats. He got slightly better in 4 years.
Go look at Otto Porter's stats and you'll see development.

Enjoy the 70+ pages showing you all the info on his past season as you like.
It's 5am & I need a nap. Not about to post "highlights" when highlights don't prove anything & I'm not searching for full Hawk games.
Go to Hawk forums/boards & read the info here.
You're overreacting on the type of player Tim Hardaway Jr. is right now & stuck on the Timmy that was here.

I went to Hawks board and guess what you explain Hawks fans how thjr worthy !
Nobody thinks he's a 18m per year player.

Fans never are in sync with the market and salary fluctuations though.

Carroll, Bazemore two guys who looked promising playing on the Hawks, got a big payday and are now pretty much garbage..

I do NOT like this deal, but if you want to steal an RFA you have to overpay. You cannot compare this deal to other "comparable" wing salaries that were just signed, they were all unrestricted and could sign where they pleased. While the deal is crazy this is the new NBA landscape with crazy salaries, perhaps the Hawks save us from ourselves and match? I just don't understand how we waited so long to do this. We're there really no salary dumps that we could have assisted with and gained assets?

My first reaction to the signing was WTF?????

But now after giving it some thought, it could be so much worse.

Yes it is a lot of money for THJr, but at least the Knicks didn't waste the money on someone old and declining. At least THJr is fairly young and has upside and room to improve. Just need to get rid of Melo now and start full rebuild concentrated on signing and improving young players.

Now KP has a chance to team up with the man who sent him to NY.

Please match Atlanta.

The Knicks never seem to be the resourceful team. Can't remember the last time they made a move that was considered resourceful or "outside the box".
