Yep. Tons of guys that have earned or will be expecting minutes. One minute Adebayo is the next Dwight Howard, and the next he's buried 10 deep on the bench. One minute everyone love McGruder, argue that he should have made the all rookie team, and he's the next UD, and now I guess he is ... sitting at the end of our bench.

Hopefully its an all out competition for minutes and guys are supremely motivated. Also, if everyone is playing 25 minutes a game we can run, run and run some more. Nice to know that even if the injury bug hits like last year we are still ok with depth.

We just gave $12.5 million a year to a guy who spent the past 2 years splitting time with Jared Sullinger, Amir Johnson, Jonas Jerebko, David Lee, and Tyler Zeller.

We have a bench guy making 8 figures a year, and among the top 100 paid players in the NBA.

We landed our whale!

Obviously that the blueprint is '04 Pistons. But I'm not sure it's gonna work now. The league was such a disaster in those years.

I wouldn't call 50/4 for Olynyk a bargain. It's a little overpay, tbh.

Last season we went bargain hunting and ended up with Waiters and JJ for a combined $6.8 million on 1 and 2 year contracts. This year we lost our damn minds. Call me crazy, but I think it's easier to move role players on 1 or 2 or 3 year deals than on 4 year deals.

But what the hell do I know?

*Assume Winslow (23) will be retained as a RFA

It'll be the core's 4th season together and most of these guys will be in their primes. There's something to be said for continuity and certainty. In this climate of constant player movement and roster upheaval we have a core intact and locked up that has nothing to focus on but winning as a team. Where will today's superteams be in 2020? Where will Boston be? And just imagine if Winslow and Bam develop into something...

Or Olynyk. Either way, we're spending like a drunk sailor. If reports are correct, we've got half the salary cap ... $50 million ... tied up in Whiteside/JJ/Olynyk ... and not an all star appearance between them.

And you get a 4 year contract, and you get a 4 year contract, and you get a 4 year contract!

This is nuts!

Not much team can do, we're in use it or lose it mode with regard to cap space. Going forward with the cap stabilizing we won't have any real cap space even we signed no one this year, of the next 4 years we will only have 2 1st round draft picks (each in alternating years, killing any real rebuild efforts we could have tried) and we had very few assets to trade. At least this way we use up our cap while acquiring borderline assets that we can flip going forward.

Team is in a dark place next 4 years, lets hope we get lucky.

A lot of strange versatility on this team, Kelly play's C but not a good rebounder or rim protector. Bam probably defends 4's better but he's not a 4 currently. JJ's a 4/5 with the skillset of an SF and Winslow can damn near play every position for a decent stretch in the right setting

That is true, but some guys like Whiteside and Dragic aren't going to want to play < 30 minutes a game. Those guys are trying to establish themselves as all stars, and they don't have the resumes to do that playing less than 30 minutes a game. Possibly Dion too.

I think they also see the possibility of Dion and Olynyk playing well enough that they may take their opt outs to look for longer deals since they will be 29/30 yrs old.

Literally every team that is actually trying to win should make the playoffs in the East this season. And maybe even a team that just sucks at tanking. The East is a crapfest.

East really isn't that much worse off than last year, only team that was good that will likely suck next year is Hawks.
